Section Modulus calculation and optimization
To increase the Section Modulus of the hood by modifying the design
What is the section modulus-
Section modulus is a geometric property for a given cross-section used in the design of beams or flexural members and other shapes as well. Other geometric properties used in the design include an area for tension and shear, the radius of gyration for compression, and the moment of inertia and polar moment of inertia for stiffness. Any relationship between these properties is highly dependent on the shape in question. Equations for the section moduli of common shapes are given below.

The elastic section modulus is defined as S = I / y, where I is the second moment of area (or moment of inertia) and y is the distance from the neutral axis to any given fibre.
Case 1 =
Firstly I calculate and Moment of Inertia and Section modulus in my hood design-

MOI max is 9.067007241e+007 mm4.
MOI min is 2.760395973e+005 mm4.

The full length is 880 mm
Y = 880/2 => 440 mm end to neutral axis.
Original
S= I/Y
I= 2.760395973e+005 mm4
S= 2.7604e+005/440 => 627.3636 mm3
Case 2: I modified a little bit of depth of one of my embossing.
Before it was 19.7 mm and I increased it to 24.45 mm.

MOI max is 9.121044619e+007 mm4
MOI min is 2.969501744e+ 005 mm4
I = 2.969501744e+ 005 mm4
S= 2.9695 e+005 / 440 => 674.886 mm3
Conclusion-
By increasing the depth of the emboss by 4.74 mm the MOI value also increased and so is Section Modulus.
Therefore it increased the strength of the hood and can resist the lead better than the previous design.
