Section Modulus calculation and optimization
Explanation of section modulus
It is defined as the ratio of the moment of inertia of a section about its centroidal axis to the distance of the extreme layer fro neutral fibre
Its a geometric property used to calculate the bending stress in structural member ther geometric properties used in design include areafor tension and shear, radius of gyration for compression, and section moment of inetia and polar second moment of area for stiffness

Calculation of section modulus for hood assembly
To calculate the section modulus for hood we first have to generate a section of hood asselbly .
first creat a plane about which a section has to made

Now using intersection curve option generate a curve and project it .
Using section inertia calculation option get the value of moment of inertia for the section
To optimize the value of section modules we have to minimize value of inertia and maximize distace to extreme fbre
Calculation part
MOI CASE 1 - 2.537x10^5 mm^4
value of Y 879.75 mm
so Z= I/Y = 2.537x10^5/579.75 = 288.5
MOI CASE 2- 2.572x10^5 mm^4
value of Y 879.75 mm
z= I/Y = 2.572x10^5/879.75 = 292.35
percantage change in value case 2- case 1/case 2
