The process of turning sheets of metal into a useful part or component is called sheet metal stamping. The metal is fed into a press, where the stamping tool, also known as a die, creates the desired shape. The die is pressed into or through the metal with tremendous force. The force used in the process is measured in tons.Except for some specialized processes, sheet metal stamping doesn’t use heat. Instead, it is done with a cold-forming technique. Even though no heat is used, the part can come out hot because of the friction that’s created between the metal and the die from the force of the press.

BOW ROOF PREDICTION CALCULATION

W = [1.73 x 10^(-3) x L] + [1.85 x 10^(-8) x (R^2)/t] + [ 1.10x10^(-3) x l] - 2.68

Where,

L = Roof Length in X-Direction[mm](Roof dimension in 0-Y)

R = Roof curvature

R = 2(Rx*Ry)/(Rx+Ry)

Rx = X curvature

Ry = Y curvature

t = Roof plate thickness [mm]

l = Bow Roof Span [mm]

I have divided the sections into 4 parts and based on the above sections the calcuations are made

SECTION 1:

Rx=5703.043mm;Ry=2929.513mm;I=301.53mm;L=2034.927mm

value of W= 1.54 (W<2.7)

Thus OK

SECTION 2

Rx=4805.902mm;Ry=2929.513mm;I=313.5mm;L=2034.927mm

value of W= 1.94 (W<2.7)

SECTION 3:

Rx=4023.054mm;Ry=10343.459mm;I=329.30mm; L(same as before)

value of W= 2.00 (W<2.7)

THUS OK

SECTION 4:

Rx=3334.442mm;Ry=14224.844mm;I=420.977mm; L(same as before)

value of W= 1.99 (W<2.7)
