2. Yatch Design & Assembly
OBJECTIVE: Design the individual components of a yatch and assemble them together and apply render.
INTRODUCTION: A yacht is a sailing or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising, or racing. Usually of medium in size and expensive.
A yatch is usually an assembly of 1. Propeller, 2. Radar, 3. Hull, 4. Radar Mast, 5. Superstructure, 6. Seats, and 7. Garage Door.
METHODOLOGY:
Each Part mentioned above follow the same process for modeling
1. Creating a template.
2. Setting up blueprints.
3. 2D Sketch, defined fully.
4. Convert them into 3D model.
5. Adding appearance.
6. Apply Decals where necessary.
7. Assembly of parts.
8. Final Rendering.
We are considering the process as shown :

The following Blueprint is used as reference for the construction of the yatch:

Commonly used Features:
1. Extrude Boss/Base, 2. Extrude Cut, 3. Revolved Boss/Base, 4. Swept Base, 5. Lofted Boss/Base, 6. Fillet, 7. Chamfer, 8. Linear Patter, 9. Circular Pattern, 10. Mirror, 11. Shell, 12. Projected Curve, 13. Composite Curve, 14. Split Line, 15. Dome, 16. Split, 17. Combine, 18. Lofted Surface, 19. Knit Surface, 20. Extrude Surface, 21. Sweep Surface, 22. Fill Surface, 23. Ruled Surface, 24. Extend Surface and 25. Trim Surface.
Parts:
1. HULL: A hull is the watertight body of a ship, boat, or flying boat. The hull may open at the top (such as a dinghy), or it may be fully or partially covered with a deck. Atop the deck may be a deckhouse and other superstructures, such as a funnel, derrick, or mast.

2. Superstructure: A superstructure is a decked structure on the freeboard deck, extending from side to side of the vessel

3. Radar Mast: Its a device acting a major navigation aid for boaters. It consists of 2 parts radar and mast.

4. Front Seat:

5. Middle Seats:

6. Rear Seats:

7. Propeller: Propeller blades displace water, to create the forces that move a boat forward. The basic propeller shaft creates the torque, or energy required to turn the blades.

8. Garage Door:

ASSEMBLY:
*Open a new assembly file in solidworks.
*Insert all the part models into the file, starting from Hull as the base.
*Since other parts are designed with hull and superstructure as reference. The assembly of majority of the components is done automatically.
*Insert Garage door, and fix it in its desired position by mating with proper relations.
*Mate the radar to the radar mast as shown.
*Insert 3 propellers and mate them to the shafts at the end of the yatch and fix it.
Once the above set of procedure is followed, we get the desired result:

The feature tree in the assembly file will be like as shown:

Rendering: Lastly, to make the models look more realistic. Photoview 360 feature in solidworks is used to add some lights and camera views in render window for the final render.

CONCLUSION:
Thus, by following the above set of procedures, we can model, assembly and render the Yatch.
