Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit
ans 1) In the above diagram the major elements are Battery, Starter, Generator, Ignition coil, Distributor, Junction block , Breaker, Fuse, Current and Voltage regulator.
ans 2) The working and purpose of three elements are as follows
Battery
Purpose- Main energy source through which the whole wiring circuit funtion.
Working - When potential differnce develop across the two terminals of battery by completing the circuit ,battery supply current to the circuit which is used for different application to run
Fuse
Purpose- To break the circuit if the current in the circuit reaches beyond the desired limit.
Working - When the current inside the circuit reaches beyond the fuse rating limit the conducting wire inside the fuse melts due to excess heat and breaks the curcuit and the other elements can be prevented from destruction.
Current and Voltage regulator
Purpose- To regulate the current and voltage according to required limit inside the circuit.
Working - Inside the regulator a variable resistor is present so the current and voltage inside the circuit can be adjusted according to requirments for differnent applications.
ans 3) Since fuse rating should be 125 % of the total load current which is desired genrelly so if total load in the given wiring system is 10A the fuse rating should be 125% of 10 that is 10*125/100 = 12.5 A but fuse of this rating is not available in the market so we go for fuse of 15A fuse rating for the total load of 10 A.
Ans 4) If the load is 500 W I would recommend 12V battery so according to formula P= V*I, the maximum current required in the wiring would be I=P/V= 500/12= 41.7A
and we know the battery capacity for the load will be in Ampere - Hour (A-hr), so for the maximum current the battery capacity reqired = 41.7A * 1 hrs = 41.7 Ah (ans.)
so recommended battery capacity would be of 41.7 Ah
ans 5) Two elements which are connected in parallel to each other are two tail stops one is below and one is at the top in left side of the circuit they are parallel because they are sharing two node point between the so potential difference between them is same.
ans 6) Two elements which are in series are Plate Light and Tail Stop in left bottem corner of the circuit. They are in series because they are sharing one common node betwwen them so potential difference would be different accross each element.
