Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design

Answers:

Report on draft analysis:

AIM: To create the switch bezel solid body from the given class A surface and at the end draft analysis is done on the model.

given class A surface:

Step 1: Check the connectivity of the A surface ensure that there is no gap between the component, we can check this through the boundary command.

Step 2: Finding the tooling axis of the component. The tooling axis is nothing but the mould opens or cavity opens. Check the best possible tooling axis. among the three axis z axis is best possible tooling axis.

Creating the tooling axis by bisecting method: First create a bisecting line between two opposite face of the class A surface, now create another line with proper draft angle with the third single surface. After creating both lines again create a line which bisects both line which are formed previously, the resulting line would be our main tooling axis.

Now perform the draft analysis through the draft analysis toolbar in the bottom. after opening the draft analysis toolbar drag the compass on the tooling axis, click on the lock symbol after compass is aligned.

Step 3 : Creating Class B- surface

class B surface composed of Bezel rest surface, Walls and finally the filltes in it, so we exract the required surface one by one untrim them, then use extrapolation and give the required trimming to create the class B surface in shape of class A surface. and offset them to create the 2.5 mm thickness.

Finally give the fillets with keeping the thickness of surface in mind.

Step 4: Creating class C surface

First use multiple extract operation to extract the boundary of Class A surface then sweep them with 3 deg draft angle in the appropirate direction. Use smooth curve operation to replace any irregularities on the surface then finally use trim operation to create Class C surface.

Trim class A, B and C to create required output. And Use close surface command to close the body.
