Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit
1. major elements of the circuit are
- fuse
- battery
- Generator
- starter
- current and voltage regulator
- distributor
- tail stop lights
- ignition switch
- ignition coil
2. 1.FUSE
It is a electical safety device that is used for protecting circuit.
It has thin wire of particular metal which melts down when too much current is passed through it which results in an open circuit.
In this circuit it protects the circuit by making it open when high voltage is passed which saves equipment and human lives
2. Battery
it is a power source of any electrical circuit in an Ev
it stores the DC power
it provides power to all the components of circuit.
it is of two types rechargable and non rechargable one
lithium ion battery is most commonly used in EV
it has components like cathode, anode and an electrolyte environment
it works in principle of movement of ions from cathode to anode which creates the potential difference which produces power
3.Generator:
it is a component which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy which was stored in battery for future use when there is shortage of power
it works in principle of when rotating coil is present inside magnetic field it creates potential differnce which produces AC current
in this circuit it is used for regenerating the used power and giving back to battery
3. Given:
total Load = 10 A
solution:
fuse rating is always 25 % more than total current
therefore fuse rating = 1.25 x 10 = 12.5A
4.Given:
P= 500W
solution:
V = 12V
then current I = P/V = 500/12
= 41.67Amps
hence for load of 500W i will recommend a battery of 41.67 A 12 V
5. in the above wiring harness diagram there were many components connected in parllel to each other two
such things are tail stop lights which indicates the vehicle behind us that we are stopping
it is connected in parallel not in series becausewhen it is connected in series if any light fails to pass current
total circuit becomes open that we cannot able to indicate the driver that we are stopping which resultrs in
accident. hence it is connected in parallel that suppose if any one light fails other one indicates which greatly
increases safety for drivers.
6. in the above diagram the two components which are in series with each other are ammeter and current
voltage regulator .
It is connected in series because if ammeter and regulator needs to work with each other.
If ammeter fails regulator cannot sense the current and regulates, hence they are connected in series with
each other.
