Challenge

Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly

Aim:

to surface wrap the given components by merging them sequentially and also to check for geomentrical errors.

given:

target length of wrap= 3mm;

Procedure:

the process is simple to check for geomentrical errors in given component and to delete the unwanted components.

Engine model:

initially import the engine model into ANSA interface

we need to delete unwanted rings on the surface and components

for that we use delete options and topo option where ever neccessary

hence after cleaning the model it is ready for Merging hence its time for other two components to correct.

gearbox:

as said in engine clear all geomentrical errors

Transmission :

thus we cleared and check the given components for errors

Merging:

for open open corrected engine assembly go to Files>>merge>>choose the transmission>>click ok on popup

then again click on file>> merge >> click on gear box >>click ok on popup

Surface wrap:

close all the openings on assembly since we are performing surface wrap

then click on mesh deck>>classic mesh>>elements >> wrap>>constrant length

a dialog box will open like this

double click on constant wrap lenghth it will open

'

double click on parameters >>target length = 3mm>> mesh>> tria >> ok

then click on contents>> select all pid>> green arrow>>ok

then select run option on the dialog box

itwill take some time and provide you with surface meshed components like

in this we can observe that componentrs are meshed perfectly on surface

in order to check that we done correctly

enable fe mode only and turn off other modes

by using not command select some first portion of parts and back portion of parts

if we can see through the holes we done a great job like this

we can closely observe that meshes are in trial and contionious through out assembly

Result:

thus Surface wrap of assembly is done and wrap is observed
