Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit
Answer 1
The major components in the automotive wiring diagram include
1) Battery
2) Breaker
3) Starter
4)Fuse
5) junction box
6)Generator
7) Distributor
8) Ammeter
9) Foot selector switch
Answer 2
1) Battery
A battery is a connection of various cells. It is generally connected in series or parallel to get the desired voltage. The reactions occurring in the battery causes current to pass through the circuit. in order to balance flow of electrons ions also flow through electrolyte solution. It was invented by Alssandro Volta. The battery's primary purpose is to store energy and supply DC voltage.
They are further classified into primary battery and secondary batteries. The primary battery can be only used once that is it is a non-rechargeable battery. The secondary batteries can be recharged and used again and again. The example of a secondary battery include Lead acid battery. The common applications of battery include
1)Housing
2) Medical
3)Mobile phones
4) Electric vehicle
In electric vehicle the most commonly used battery is Li-ion batteries. They are used because it can be recharged and it is cost effective other advantages include size is small and requires less area. The charging time required is 3 hours. The energy density is found to be in the range 125-600Wh/l.
2)Generator
A device that is identical to a motor mechanically but generator converts mechanical energy to electrical energy. The purpose behind this conversion is to produce power for domestic and industrial purpose. There are three types of generators mainly they are inverter, standby and portable generators.
A generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy by passing electrons from external source through a circuit. The generators working near the dams will provide high amount of energy y creating power from the water. This is done by the use of turbines. The generators used in homes depend on deisel or gas to generate power.
3) Fuse
The purpose of the fuse is predominant when lightning strikes electrical equipment. It protects device from high current by removing the equipment from the grid.Fuse will protect the wiring if anything is wrong and protects the equipment from excess current. It is done by melting the wire in the fuse and breaking the circuit. It will give information regarding voltage and Amphere rating. The main functions include
1)prevents short circuits
2) prevents overload
3)Prevents device faliure
4) protects the appliances
Answer 3
The fuse rating should be at least equal or greater than the voltage in the circuit so the value of fuse rating should be equal to 13A.
Answer 4
Given
Load=500 watts
Time=24 hours
We know that Capacity=`Load asttime`
=`500ast24`
=12000wh
The average voltage is 12v
Amp-hours=watt hours/volts
=`frac{12000}{12}`
=1000AH
Answer 5
In the figure the generator with current voltage and regulator are connected in parallel. They are said to be connected in parallel because they have same potential difference across their ends.
Answer 6
In the figure the battery and starter are connected in series because same amount of current flows through them.
