Project 2

Study#1.a):

To calculate the heat generation in the battery pack, we need to first calculate the power dissipated by the battery pack.

The power dissipated by the battery pack can be calculated using the following formula:

Power Dissipation as heat= I^2 * R * t

where, I is the battery current and R is the internal resistance of the battery.

Maximum Battery pack current = 1.0304 A , t = 174 sec

Maximum heat generated in the battery pack = (1.0304)^2 * 0.0005 * 174

Maximum heat generated in the battery pack ( Joules Heat) =0.09237 J

Total Maximum heat generated in the battery pack = Joules Heat + Entropic Heat

Total Maximum heat generated in the battery pack =0.09237 + 2 *0.09237

Total Maximum heat generated in the battery pack = 0.27711 J

Study#1.b):

To find the SOC of the battery at 208 second of the battery operation:

Simulink Model :

Results:

Conclusion:

The max heat generation of the battery was estimated as 0.27711 J and the SOC of the battery at 208 second of the battery operation is estimated as 98.98 % using matlab simulink.
