Effect of Stiffness on Time Period

Building E:2.75 s

Building F:2.16 s

Here, the Building E is the building with varying column sizes where as the Building F is the building with uniform column sizes.

So,here the Building F is having the bigger columns in the top so the sstiffness increases and the time period decreases.

So,here the Building E is having smaller column sizes such that the stiffness of the building reduces and the time period reduces.

Building G:6.66 s

Building H:7.06 s

Here, both the buildings are higher buildings comparatively and Building G is having varying column sizes and the Building H is the building with uniform sized columns.

So,Building G is having lesser sized columns which will reduce the weight of the building in this case and hence reduces the time period.

So,Building H is having the columns of same size entirely over the building which will increase the dead weight of the building thus increasing the time period of the building.

Effect of Mass on Time Period

Building H:7.06 s

Building J:7.09 s

Building K:7.10 s

Here, all the 3 buildings are having the same structural details where only change is in the live load where 10% increases for the second and 20% increases for the third.

As the increment is uniform for the entire building,we can't see any much variation in the time periods.

Effect of Building Height on Time Period

Building A:0.75 s

Building B:1.57 s

Building F:2.16 s

Building H:7.06 s

Here,Buildings A,B,F,H are having 2,5,10 and 25 floors respectively. We can conlcude that as the height of the building increases the time period increases.

Effect of Column Orientation on Time Period

Building B:1.57 s

Building C:1.68 s

Building D:1.16 s

Here, all the buidings are of the same size, and each building is having different size in the column in the X direction,so basing upon it only we can notice that Building D is having shorter time period, where as the Building B is having 400 mm and Building C is having 550 mm,so the Building C is having much more time period.

Effect of Flexural Stiffness of Structural Elements on Mode Shapes in Building B

Flexural Stiffness of Beams close to Zero:7.77 s

Regular Flexural Stiffness:1.57 s

Just reducing the stiffness in the beams to zero from 35% we can find the variation as mentioned above.

Effect of Axial Stiffness of Vertical Members on Mode Shapes in Building H

Axial Stiffness of Beams close to Zero:9.90 s

Regular Axial Stiffness:7.06 s

Here,we can find that reducing the column stiffness to increases the time period.

Effect of Degree of Fixidity of Column Base on Mode Shape in Building B

Pinned Column Support:1.57 s

Fixed Column Support:1.39 s

Here,we can easily understand that the fixed base results in the lesser time period.
