Challenge

Project 1 : CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck

Objective:

To perform CFD meshing for the given Tesla cyber truck model by checking and solving all geometrical errors, Assigning appropriate PIDs and Performing meshing with the suitable Target length and element Quality criteria.

Procedure:

The given model is imported

We use topo tool to make single cons into double cons

Checking for geometry errors

All single cons are fixed by creating new surfaces wherever necessary

Fixing the wheel by deleting the inside part and closing the holes and finishing topo cleanup

Assigning pid's

Setting target length for each part

Part Target length
Body 4 mm
Wheels 3 mm

Deleting any surfaces smaller than our target lengths

Now meshing for wheel is perfomed

Meshing for body is done

Now we create wind tunnel for the car by creating points and surfaces

The dimension of the wind tunnel can be calculated as:

Side = 1 * length of car

Bottom = close to wheels

Front - 4 * length of car

Back - 6 * length of car

Top - 3 * length of car

Wind tunnel is created and added into separate pid

Now surface meshing for wind tunnel is done with a varying size elements

Learning outcomes:

  • Full vehicle topo cleanup
  • Reconstruct of mesh
  • Ways to reduce off elements
  • Creating wind tunnel
  • Meshing with varying size
