Project 1 : CFD Meshing for Tesla Cyber Truck

Aim: To perform CFD meshing Tesla cyber truck

Objectives:

  • Clear all the geometrical errors in given geometry model and assign suitable PIDs
  • Perform surface mesh with suitable target length and perform volumetric mesh
  • Create wind tunnel and do volumetric mesh.

Section1: Topology

Use geometry checks tool check errors in geometry model and we observe single CONs errors.

After clearing errors model look like this

Asigned PIDs

Section 2: Meshing

Mesh all parts with suitable target length and suitable quality criteria and mesh parameters

Windows 15mm Target length

Tyres 10mm Target length

Lights 6 amm target length

Body 15 mm target length

wind tunnel and meshing

Before going to wind tunnel we consider parameters to create wind tunnel. Length of the car is 5970mm,(we consider Length=x)

wind tunnel front length from front point should be 4X, Back length of wind tunnel should be 6x from back point, Top length of

wind tunnel should be 3x from top point, side length of wind tunnel should be 1x from side from side point.

Created wind tunnel and assigned PIDs

For wind tunnel I selected target length as 150mm because wind tunnel are having large faces

Section2: Voumetric mesh

In volumetric meshing select define and auto detect , whole database, ANSA detect 2 volumes

Out of this we don’t want all volume we want only volume between wind tunnel and cyber truck keep this and delete remaining.

Volumetric mesh look like this

Results:

  • ANSA successfully detected volume between cybertruck and wind tunnel, generated volumetric mesh.

Conclusion:

  • We solved all the geometrical errors.
  • We generated surface mesh and volumetric mesh and created wind tunnel.
