Problem set 3 -week 3 challenge: Anti-roll bar optimization
CALCULATE THE FOLLOWING PARAMETERS BASED ON THE GIVEN DATA :-
- Roll moment (ft-lb/g).
- Roll gradient (ft-lb/g).
- Load transfer due to roll or elastic component (lb/g).
- Front roll stiffness (ft-lb/deg) at wheel center level.
- Front anti roll spring rate (lb/in) for one wheel jounce.
- Front anti roll spring rate (lb/in) for roll.
- Front anti roll bar stiffness (ft-lb/deg).
- Auxiliary roll stiffness (%).
GIVEN DATA :-

Also,
Front ride rate, Krf = 200 lb/in.
Rear ride rate, Krr = 250 lb/in.
The calculations are done in a spreadsheet and the link is given below,
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14zr7R54Zpf-zUzgjQVXlWZm39CSzpmf9M5LT1r1PpUg/edit?usp=sharing
RESULTS :-
The roll moment is 7643.54 ft-lb/g.
The roll gradient is 3.18 deg/g.
The load transfer due to roll or elastic component is 1563.63 lb/g.
Front roll stiffness at wheel centre level is 1989.33 ft-lb/deg.
The front anti roll spring rate for one wheel jounce is 149.15 lb/in.
The front anti roll spring rate for roll is 74.57 lb/in.
The front anti roll bar stiffness is 31.086 ft-lb/deg.
The auxiliary roll stiffness is 70.98 %.
CONCLUSION :-
The parameters for anti roll bar optimization are calculated using a spreadsheet.
