Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT
1) Use the shortcut keys in Revit discussed in class to complete the following tasks and list them below
a. Using 3D model create a section box
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements in line
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements
AIM:
To use shortcut keys in revit to complete the anove following tasks.
INTRODUCTION:
Shortcut keys help provide an easier and quicker method of navigating and executing commands in the revit software. It isgenerally present in view tab, under user interface command to know the shortcut keys or else type KS for the display.
PROCEDURE:
a. Using 3D model create a section box-BX
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout-CS
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views-TL
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view.VG
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view-VR
f. To select the previously selected item-CTRL+S
g. To add annotations to the model views-DI
h. To bring the model elements in line-AL
i. To rotate the model elements-RO
j. To move an object to another location MV
k. To copy a model element co
1. To mirror an element about an axis-MM/DM
m. To create an array of model elements-AR
2) Using Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following
a. Walls
b. Doors
Windows
d. Material - Concrete/Wood
AIM:
To create schedule for the above following category for model created in week 6
INTRODUCTION:
A schedule is a tabular display of information, extracted from the properties of the elements in a project. A schedule can list every instance of the type of element you are scheduling, or it can collapse multiple instances onto a single row, based on the schedule's grouping criteria It is available under view toolbar in revit and it can done with varies option such as-
• schedule quantities-it genrally let to define the keys point to make a tabular column.
grahphical column schedule-grapical representation of column schedule which will include off grid columns.
• material takeoff-keeps the material quantities that are used as components in the porject under family category.
• sheet list- to create table of contents for project documentation set
• note book-its the text description symbols that are applied in the project
• view list-it create list for particular set of view which is selected.
PROCEDURE:
• To create schedule for walls-go to view toolabr and select schedule command.

• select the category as wall for new schedule-ok.

• select the keys to be displayed in the schedule table such as type of wall its count etc and ok.

• The table of schedule is created and additonal keys can be added/deleted/altered.

• to create doors schedule, select the category as door and set the keys to be displayed in the table.

• to create windows schedule, select window category and set the keys.

• for material, select material take-off option and select floors as category.

• set the keys like material area, materila volumne etc,ok

RESULT:
• schedule are created as follow:
• Wall schedule

• Door schedule

• Window schedule

• Floor material schedule

3) Using Revit Calculate area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room. Prepare a schedule
report for area and volume of each room.
AIM:
to schedule the area and volume of each room in the model that are taged using room tag.

• sheet list- to create table of contents for project documentation set
• note book-its the text description symbols that are applied in the project.
• view list- it create list for particular set of view which is selected.
PROCEDURE:
• set the floor view of first floor.
• select the room tag from architecture toolbar and tag the room.
• name the taged room appropriately.

• now go to view toolbar and select the schedule option.
• select the room category and key as area and volume.

RESULT:
• The area and volume of the rooms that are taged with appropriate name are schedule.

4) Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available in the internet, prepare total cost of materials used in the project
a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Take off
AIM:
To prepare a schedule for total cost of materials used in total and individually.
INTRODUCTION:

• view list- it create list for particular set of view which is selected.
PROCEDURE:
• select the wall and in dit type add cost of the wall per cubic feet.
• simailry for doors, windows, floor type, furniture etc.,
• go to view toolbar and select the wall as the category from material takeoff command.

• Select the keys as count, material volume, cost, type, material area

• Set the formula and calculate.

• Total cost of wall is calculated.

• to calculate individual cost, the formula will be included in the keys.
• so select floors, and while adding keys, calculate formulae can be added their only.

• Repeat the procedure for door, window, ceiling.
RESULT:
Total Cost of Materials and Individual Material Take off is calculated.
• Wall total cost schedule:

• Door total cost schedule:

• Window total cost schedule:

• Floor total cost schedule:

• Ceiling total cost schedule:

5) Using the concept of Visual Programming discussed in class, list a flowchart for the following scenario

b. If there is no water coming from the pipes
c. If request for money from client has been declined for the project
A.How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo :
B. If there is no water coming from the pipes:
