j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements
Answers:
Aim: To use the short cut keys discussed in the Class.
Procedure:
a.Using 3D model create a section box-‘bx’
Open 3D model created in week 6. Then select a window/door then type ‘bx’ in the keyboard. The ‘bx’ short cut key gives us the desired view like balcony or any window or door we want to visualise.

b.To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout- ‘CS’
Select the type of elements and type ‘cs’ command then place the similar element created at desired place.

c.To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views ‘TL’
Go to the Plan view and press ‘TL’ and adjust the line thickness accordingly.
d.To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view –‘EOD’
e.To increase the range of visibility in a plan view – ‘VR’
Type ‘VR’ on the plan views, a new window will appear there set the required view range accordingly.

f.To select the previously selected items- ‘CTRL +
‘`
g.To add annotations to the model views – ‘DI’
Click on the plan view and type ‘DI’ in the keyboard then dimension will appear on the screen now select starting point and end point where dimensions need to be added.
h.To bring the model elements in line – ‘AL’
The ‘AL’ command will help us to align the elements along one line. In the floor plan type ‘AL’ on keboard and then select the one element which has to be aligned and now select another grid or line along which the first element has to be aligned.
i.To rotate the model elements – ‘RO’
The ‘RO’ command helps us to rotate the elements in all directions.
Select the element which has to be rotated. Now type ‘RO’ and rotate the element accordingly.
j.To move an object to another location – ‘MV’
The ‘MV’ command helps us to move the elements to the other places.
Select the element which has to be moved. Now type ‘MV’ and move the element accordingly.
k.To copy a model element – ‘CO’
The ‘CO’ command helps us to copy the elements to the other places.
Select the element which has to be copied. Now type ‘CO’ and copy the element accordingly.
l.To mirror an element about an axis – ‘MM’
Select the element then type ‘MM’ the select required grid about which the element has to be mirror imaged.
m.To create an array of model elements –‘AR’
Select any model elements then press ‘AR’ then add resuired no of arrays to be created in ‘number’ toolbar the press enter.
Question 02) Using Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following
a. Walls
b. Doors
c. Windows
d. Material – Concrete/Wood.
Answers:
Aim: To prepare schedule of the concrete / Wood material and also for walls, Doors, Windows etc used in the Project done in week 6.

- Now repeat the same steps for schedule of walls and windows.
- For the Concrete and Wood Material go to the ‘View’ toolbar then click on ‘schedule’ and then click on ‘Material Take off’.
- Then a new window will appear. There in the ‘Filter List’ change the name select ‘Architecture’ and ‘Structural’. Then change the Name to ‘Concrete Material Take off’. Click ‘ok’
- Then in this window, in the ‘fields’ section add on ‘family, family type, Material Name, Material Area, Material Cost and Total Cost’ to the scheduled fields.
- Then Click ‘ok’. Concrete schedule will be ready.
- Repeat the same steps for Wood Material.

Question 03) Using Revit Calculate area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room. Prepare a schedule report for area and volume of each room.
Answers:
Aim: Calculation of Area, Volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room and preparing the schedule for Each room with room tags.
Procedure:
- Go to the ‘View’ tab, click on the ‘Schedule’ icon then click on ‘Schedules/Quantities’.
- A new tab will appear on the screen, there in the category list select ‘Rooms’
- And change the name to ‘Room Schedule 1’ and click ‘ok’.
- Then again, a new window will show up on the screen. Here in this select the required fields and add on to the scheduled fields and click ok.
Result:

Question 04) Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available in the internet, prepare total cost of materials used in the project
a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Take off.
Answers:
Aim: To prepare the total cost of the materials used in the Project using the schedule created earlier.
Procedure:
- Open the Revit project Created in the Earlier Task. Open the Schedule created for the Materials used in the Project. Go to the Project Browser and click on the Schedules/Quantities(all). Now Click on the required Schedule and it will be open.
- If the Schedules are not created earlier, then go the ‘view’ tab and click on ‘Schedule/Quantities’ and the on ‘Material Take-off’.
- In this ‘New Material Take-off’ window select ‘Architecture’ in the filter list, Name it accordingly and the select ‘New Construction’ in the phase and click ‘ok’.
- Now in the Material Take-Off Properties add the Schedules fields from available fields and the click on the ‘add calculated parameter’.
- In the ‘Calculated Value’ type ‘Total Cost’ in the name field, ‘currency’ in the Type and Put formula for the ‘Total Cost’ viz.,
(Material Volume*Material Cost) / 1m^3.
Now in the ‘Sorting/grouping’ sort it by accordingly and then add ‘Grand Total’. Now ‘format’ the table according to your wish and click ‘ok’. A new Calculated Parameter will be added. Then Wall Schedule will be created.
- Now to add the ‘Material Cost’ Go to the ‘Ground Floor’ in the floor plan, then click on the any ‘wall’ and go to the ‘edit type’ in the properties tool bar. Now in the ‘Type properties’ window go to the ‘Structure’ and ‘edit’ and in the ‘Material browser’ in the ‘Identity tab the cost of the material can be given.
Or we can directly give the cost of the Material in the Schedule itself.
Then the individual Material Take off and Total Cost of the Material can be prepared
