Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT

Q.1) Use the shortcut keys in Revit discussed in class to complete the following tasks and list them below.

a. Using 3D model create a section box
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements in line
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements

AIM :- To use the shortcut keys as mentioned in the question

a. Using 3D model create a section box = BX
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout = CS
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views = TL
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view = EOD
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view = VR
f. To select the previously selected items = CTRL + <- ( CONTROL PLUS LEFT ARROW)
g. To add annotations to the model views = DI
h. To bring the model elements in line = AL
i. To rotate the model elements = RO
j. To move an object to another location = MV
k. To copy a model element = CO
l. To mirror an element about an axis = MM
m. To create an array of model elements = AR

INTRODUCTION:-

Revit software from Autodesk can be used to capture design intent efficiently and accurately in 3D; producing consistent, coordinated, and complete model-based building designs and documentation.

PROCEDURE :-

Open the model which you have created in earlier assignments.

1.To create section box

Open model and then select the element which you want to create section box.

2.To create similar components in the floor plan layout

For this open the project and then select the component which you want to create similar copy.

To increase the view range of the visibility in plan view

To increase the view range of visibility in the plan you type VR command and a dialogue box will open

Change the setting as per your requirement and click ok

Then type the command TL that is thin lines command and now you can see the lines are become thin.

To align the model elements , Just use the AL command to align them .

To create an Array of model element

Firstly select the model which you want to create array of it.

Q.2) Using Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following
a. Walls
b. Doors
c. Windows
d. Material – Concrete/Wood

AIM : To prepare a schedule of the project from week 6 to 8 linke walls, doors, windows and materials-concrete/wood.

TOOLS USED :

  • View.
  • Schedule.
  • Schedule properties.
  • Schedule quantities.

PROCEDURE :

    1. Open the arctitectural template which we have used for our week 6-8 week project.

Next schedule tab dialog box will appear select the componets which we want to display in the schedules.

Door Schedule:-

Floor Material Takeoff:-

Q.3) Using Revit Calculate area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room. Prepare a schedule report for area and volume of each room.

AIM : We have to create areas and volume for each room using revit and assign appropriate room tags to each room. To prepare a schedule for each room area and volume.

TOOLS USED :

  • View.
  • Schedules.
  • Schedule properties.
  • Schedule quantities.

PROCEDURE :

    1. Open the architectural template which we have used for week 6-8 of the project.
    2. Go to the view tab.

Q.4) Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available in the internet, prepare total cost of materials used in the project
a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Take off

AIM : With the help of schedules we have to create the unit cost rate for materials avaliable in the internet used in the project.

TOOLS USED :

  • View.
  • Schedule.
  • Schedule properties.
  • Schedule quantities.
  • Material takeoff.

PROCEDURE :

    1. Open the architectural template which we have used for week 6-8 of the project.
    2. Go to the view tab.

Q.5) Using the concept of Visual Programming discussed in class, list a flowchart for the following scenario
a. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo ?
b. If there is no water coming from the pipes
c. If request for money from client has been declined for the project.

ANS.5.

a.How to decide framing for a structure ?

b.If there is no water coming from the pipes.

a. Wall

b. Floor

c. Door

d. Window

e. Table

f. Building
