Challenge

Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT

1) Use the shortcut keys in Revit discussed in class to complete the following tasks and list them below
a. Using 3D model create a section box
b. To create similar doors and windows in a floor plan layout
c. To reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views
d. To apply override settings to a floor in the model section view
e. To increase the range of visibility in a plan view
f. To select the previously selected items
g. To add annotations to the model views
h. To bring the model elements in line
i. To rotate the model elements
j. To move an object to another location
k. To copy a model element
l. To mirror an element about an axis
m. To create an array of model elements

Ans:-

Aim:- To know the use of short cut keys or commands in revit.

Procedure:-

a) To create section of some particular part in project model the command is BX and it is already in properties browser.

b) To create similar object click on existing and enter the short cut key CS.

c) To reduce the thickness of lines we can use TL to create thick to thin and thin and thick lines.

d) To over ride the material properties we can use the short cut key of VG visibility/graphics.

e) To change the range of view we can use the short cut key VR.

f) To reselect the object we can use the short cut key of ctrl + < To see the previously selected objects.

g) To provide dimensions for project we can annotate it by using the short cut key of DI.

h) To align the one object to another object we can use the short cut key AL.

i) To copy the object we can use the short cut key of CO.

j) To move the object from one lace to another place we can use the short cut key of MV.

k) To mrror the object we can select the object and type the key MR and click on base constraint and mirror the object.

l) to copy the object in multiple times (array) we can use the short cut key AR.

Result:- Finally i got to know about the usage of short cut keys in Revit.

2) Using Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following
a. Walls
b. Doors
c. Windows
d. Material – Concrete/Wood

Aim:- To prepare the scheduing of given objects by using Revit.

Procedure:-

To create the scheduling go to View and then schedule and select the element that you want to schedule it.

a) Doors

b) walls

c) window:-

d) Material _ concrete/wood:-

To create this in the place of schedule select the material take off option.

Result:- Finally i got to know about hoe to create scheduling and material take off.

3) Using Revit Calculate area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room. Prepare a schedule report for area and volume of each room.

Aim:- To calculate each room area and volume by using schedule report.

Procedure:- go to view tab and go to schedules and select rooms and click ok choose the elements like area, name, number, volume, count.

Result:- This is how we can create the room scheduling in revit.

4) Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available in the internet, prepare total cost of materials used in the project
a. Total Cost of Materials
b. Individual Material Take off

Aim:- To add the cost to the previous schedules.

Procedures:- select the material objesct go to properties browser and go to edit type and enter the cost manually. and then go scheduling now creating one dummy column to calculate final amount. go to fx to create formuola (formula must started with open bracket and divide by 1 unit and tyhen the space beween 1 and the unit is mandatory so that we can get the amount.)

Result:- Finally got the total cost by using Revit.

5) Using the concept of Visual Programming discussed in class, list a flowchart for the following scenario
a. How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo ?
b. If there is no water coming from the pipes
c. If request for money from client has been declined for the project

Aim:- To create the flow charts

a)

Preperation of form work

Assembling the form work

Placement of reinforcement

compacting

curing

completion

b)

check the pipe connection

check water supply

check if any leaks

Fix the problem

c)

Explain the project to client

give time to client for decide

if he accepts to pay continue with project

if he refuses to pay then decline the project..

Result:- Created the flow charts related to revit.

6) List the parameters associated with each model element
a. Wall
b. Floor
c. Door
d. Window
e. Table
f. Building

Aim:- To list the parameters associated with each model element given below.

Procedure:-

a)wall

B) floor

door:-

Window:-

Table:-

Building:-

Result:- The parameters are provide by revit.
