Preparing Schedule & Cost Estimation for a building using REVIT
AIM & INTRODUCTION :
AIM :
To Prepare a schedule report and Material takeoff for area and volume of all the components of buildings in revit and also to evoke and edit the elements with the appropriate shorcut keys.
INTRODUCTION :
- Here in revit, not only the buildings can be modeled but also the following are can also be done.
- Shortcuts keys are used to to edit the individual elements of the building components.
- In revit we can Prepare schedule reports and Material takeoff for area and volume of all the components of buildings.
- The total cost of the building components are also be calculated and viewed here.
- The parameters of the building components are plays the vital role in revit.
PROCEDURE :
- After the creation of the complete building model with appropriate elements.
- The Preparation of a schedule report and Material takeoff for area and volume of all the components of buildings are needs to be done.
- To creation of the schedule for walls will be evoked from View tab < Schedule < schedules/quantities < walls < schedule properties.

- Likewise all the elements are scheduled individually with the appropriate properties selection.
- The Material takeoff for floor can be created from the View tab < Schedule < Material takeoff < Floor < selecting appropriate properties.

- The Total cost of the elements are calculate from the Material takeoff table.
- To calculate it the appropriate properties of the element should be selected such as Material volume, family, type, count, cost etc.

- The cost of the individual element should be entered from the property parameter by selecting the appropriate element < edit type < cost < and type appropriate cost.

- Then after creation of the material takeoff table, the cost of the elements are visible.
- To calculate the total cost of the Material takeoff, create one dummy column at the last of the tabel and select the dummy column < calculate.
- Calcuation tab type the name as Total cost and the formula < (Material volume/1CF)*(cost).

- After clicking OK we can see the Total cost of the element is visible in the create table.
- Here, the created building elements and components can be edited easily with the Shortcut Keys.
- The shortkeys such as BX, VG, VR, CO, MV, MM, CS, DI, TL etc.
RESULT :
1) Using the shortcut keys in Revit discussed in class to complete the following tasks given below :
a. ) Using 3D model created a section box with a shortcut key of "BX " :

b. ) Created similar elements with shorcut key "CS" in a floor plan layout :

c. ) Used the shortcut key "TL" to reduce the thickness of lines visible in plan views :

d. ) The shortcut key "VG" is used to apply override settings to a floor in the model section view :

e.) The shortcut key "VR" is used to increase the range of visibility in a plan view :

f. ) The shortcut key "ctrl <" is used to select the previously selected items :
g. ) The shortcut key "DI" is used to add annotations to the model views :

h. ) The shortcut key "AL" is used to bring the model elements in line :

i. ) The shortcut key "RO" is used rotate the model elements :

j. ) The shortcut key "MV" is used move an object to another location :

k. ) The shortcut key "CO" is used copy a model element :

l. ) The shortcut key "MM" is used mirror an element about an axis :

m. ) The shortcut key "AR" is used create an array of model elements :

2) Using Revit and the project used from week 6 to 8 prepare a schedule for the following :
a. ) Walls :

b. ) Doors :

c. ) Windows :

d. ) Material – Concrete/Wood :

3) Using Revit Calculated area and volume of each room in the model with appropriate room tags applied to each room and Prepared a schedule report for area and volume of each room :

4) Using the same schedule using the unit cost rate for materials available in the internet, prepared total cost of materials used in the project :
a. ) Total Cost of Materials :

b. ) Individual Material Take off :

5) Using the concept of Visual Programming discussed in class, listed a flowchart for the following scenario :
a. ) How to decide framings for a structure using Dynamo :

b. ) If there is no water coming from the pipes :

c. ) If request for money from client has been declined for the project :

6) The parameters associated with each model element are listed below :
a. ) Wall :

b. ) Floor :

c. ) Door :

d. ) Window :

e. ) Table :

f. ) Building :
