REPORT OF AMERICAN CHOPPER:

INTRODUCTION:

The chopper symbolizes both power and style.The characteristic features of choppers are long front forks often coupled with an increased rake angle,large rear wheels and relatively slim front wheels,streched frames.

AIM & OBJECTIVE:

• To learn the solidworks interface and simultaneously sketch or model the parts of american chopper,apply appearance & materials.
• Do assembly of modeled parts to get the chopper.
• Do the visualization of the assembeled chopper with the suitable environment.

INTRODUCTION OF SOLIDWORKS:

Solidworks is a mechanical 3D CAD(Computer-Aided Design) software used to create 2D & 3D models. It helps in designing products better,faster & more cost effectively.

COMMON TOOLS USED IN MODELING OF CHOPPER

• PLANE: Here the section view of the model is to be sketched. 
• SKETCH: It gives the work base to create 2D & 3 D sketches.
• SMART DIMENSION: By using this easy to provide dimension value to the sketch to get the desired shape. 
• FILLET: It provides round shape at corners edges.
• CHAMFER: It provides sloping edges to corners.
• CONVERT ENTITIES: Using this easy to get sketched into the other plane or same plane with the same dimension value.
• OFFSET: This tool used for enlarging or shrinking of the sketch geometry.
• SHELL: The shell tool hollows out a part.
• EXTRUDE BOSS/BASE: Used to get a solid body in one or two directions.
• REVOLVED BOSS/BASE: Used to revolve the sketch with the reference of axis or lines in the solid form.
• EXTRUDE CUT:Used to remove materials from the solid body.
• SWEPT BOSS/BASE:It provide a solid body in one or two directions.
• PATTERN:It features the object in a particular direction or path.
• PROJECTED CURVE: It combines two 2D contious cuves into a 3D curve.
• TRIM: It is used to cut the extra line of the surface.
• APPEARENCE: Using this tool can get a different look & apply different materials.
• DECALS: Using this tool painted stickers can be added.

Chassis:

Chassis is the backbone of the vehicle. It is the structural unit that bears all the load of the vehicle body,rider and the payload applied to it . Its purpose is to provide proper support and balance of the vehicle.All components connected to the chasis directly or indirectly.

Chain:

The chain drive is a way of transmitting mechanical power from one sprocket to another.

Fork:

It holds front-wheel. Forks are made of four different materials: Steel,aluminium,titanium & carbon fiber. It is used to provide direction while riding.

Fenders:

It is the frame installed over the wheels,It prevents water & mud spray.

Gas Tank:

It acts as a reservoir tank.

In this component some different commands are used to design they are as follow

• Surface loft
• Surface sweep
• Boundry surface
• Knit surface

Oil tank:

It also a reservoir tank. It contains flamable fuel safetey.

Wheels:

A tire is a strong, flexible rubber casing attached to the rim of a wheel.Tires provides a gripping surfase for traction and serve as a cushion for the wheels of a moving vehicle.

Stand:

It is made up of strong materials, located in lower portion of the chassis.It is used to provide support to the whole body while resting.

Transmission belt:

It is made up of flexible rubber material.it transmits power from one shaft to another.

Pedal:

It seves multi purpose.manuplating the position of the pedals helps in switching gears. The other idea is to provide a resting place for rider foot.

Engine:

This is the heart of any Bike engine .It decides the spped of a bike. In most choppers V-twins are used in iconic fashion as meant to.In the case of petrol engine the compressed fuel air mixture is ignited with spark plugs to provide to and from motion of the pistons.The pistons in turn are connected in a  V oriaentation to ensure when one is compressing the other is expanding. this linear motion is converted over to the rotors  which with help of spur gears depending on the transmit the power on to the chain & wheels. Thus achieving motion.   

ASSEMBLY OF AMERICAN CHOPPER:

In the assembly part,all individual parts inserted into assembly tool of solidworks. Fix one of the comppnents into the work base (preferably chassy in this case).provide mates and relation reaming part to the fixed one with respect to line vertex & planes.

While doing assembly, + sign indicates that parts are over defined & - sign indicates under defined. solidworks hae very freindly tools . while assembling if parts get over sized or irregular shape can be edited in an assembly work bench.

RENDERING OF A MODEL:

The final step towards completion would be rendering of the chopper. In this section we would be applying aesthetics to mimic the real world with the help of PHOTOVIEW 360 & SOLIDWORKS VISUALISE

• Appearance: Here we can provide our model the appearence we desire by applying a material like glass,light,metal,paint,rubber etc
• Decals: Here we can apply crafty symbols / designs onto the surfaces that we want. we use mapping for defining the location & illumination for the brightness of the craft.we can see the  added decal in below picture
• scenes: here we can add the environmenta in the back of our model.we can define the amount of reflection from the environment onto the model and the brightness of the scenary
• Lights: we can add the lights wherever we need with help of Directional,spot,point & sun light ,which results in brightining the particular area
• Camera: we can position the model by creating camara,which can be seen below pic
• Options: One of the most imp featurees that decides the resolution of the pic that will be rendered and quality of it.

CONCLUSION:

Modelling,assembly & rendering of an american chopper is done by using solid works.
