Introduction to National Building Code and Steps in a Construction project
1)Aim & Introduction : To Know Why are building codes or standards essential for the modeling/ efficiency of drawings in Revit ?
Procedure :
- Building Codes are Necesssary for modelling the drawings in revit because there will be uniform Standard maintained throughout the entire Plan.
- Building Codes ensures the Safety aspects of the construction phase
- using Building Codes the approval plan would be passed by the goverment, for plan approval by checking the norms fro m building cide
- It Improves the Standard of Building while proceeding with building codes
- Able to combine Modern Construction methods with traditional merthods
- whereever the place we may go one who follows the building code can easily understand the drawings thats has been shown.
- Example there are set of norms that to be followed in that building,to provide sprinkler, fire alarm, emergency exit, elevator, lift etc depending upon the type of building eg residential, commercial or institutional etc.
- The National building code book to be Verified upon their latest version.
Result : From the Above Detail we come to know about the building codes are essential for drawing in revit
2) Aim & Introduction : To Know From the National Building Code list the groups that will be essential to you when you begin modeling in Autodesk Revit.
Procedure : Following Are the group of list that are essential to begin the model in autodesk revit
- Residential Building
- Institutional Building
- Industrial Building
- Mercantile Building
- Business Building
- Hazardous Building
- Educational Building
- Assembly Building
- Storage Building
Results : From the national Building Code we come to Know the classification of groups that are essential for revit.
3)Aim & Introduction : List the five major steps that occur in project cycle .
Procedure :
- Initiation : Under This process what scope of work going to be done is to be sorted out. Then we have to Indentify the feasibility of the project. Then we have to identify the StakeHolders of the Project. And To develope the deliverable output of the project and to develop the statement of work going to be done.
- Planning : Under this Process, we have to prepare the Schedule of operations and assignments that to be completed.with Smaller goals high potential tpo be gained. This Process Starts eith work flow plan and to plan for the resources and finally it should plan for anticipatory risks to.
- Execution : Under this process this stage is said to plan into action.here the project ,manager governs the work whether the assigned operation is going on sert track,he has to ensure the quality of work that has been done and going to be doen,to maintain the laboiur management and he is the person to create task and check whether its has been taken place or not.
- Closure : It is the finl stage of the Phase, here comes the final Delivery of the project.the success meets over here.all the accounts to be cleared on and off.post rewards will be done at this stage.
Results: From the Building Code we come to Know the stages involved in Life Cycle of Building.
4)Aim&Introduction :Give examples of different disciplines involved in construction of a project
Procedure : Discplines that are involved in Construction of Project
- Surveying
- Estimation & Budgeting
- Geo-Technical
- Structural
- Designing
- Construction
- MEP
- Contractors and Bid promoters
- Retrofitting
Results : From the above its clear that we gave many types of discplines in construction phase of the project
5)Aim & Introduction : How are buildings classified ? Place the following buildings under each category
a. Four unit apartments
b. School with capacity of 1000 students
c. A single unit shop.
d. Multi story Shopping complex
e. Steel machine factory
Procedure :
- Four Unit Apartment - Residential Building
- School with Capacity of 1000 Students - Educational building
- A Single Unit shop - Mercantile Building
- Multi storyShopping Complex - Mercantile Building
- Steel machinery factory - Industrial building
Results: From the national Building codes we are able to classify the above specifications repective to their groups.
6) Aim & Introduction : To Distinguish the roles of Design team and Management team
Procedure :
Design Team
- Design Team Implements the Design and follows from initiation to final stage
- This team Works on plan and finalizes the plan so that we can proceed further
- Any changes are eliminated in this stage itself
- they are the evaluationaries in the Project
Management team :
- Management team Executes the Work thats given by design team
- they Monitor the work from Initial Construction Phase to final Completion Of work
- They are the one who executes design as per plan
Result : From the Above detail it is Clear that what are the roles between design and management team.
7)Aim & Introduction :To Refer to NBC, Identify the modeling requirements for the project
Procedure :
Height Limitation : As Per NBC 2005,Height Should Not exceed 15m.
Area Limitation : As per NBC 2005,Minimum Plot size with ground coverage not exceeding 75%,Shall Not be less that 40Sq.m in small and medium town and not less than 30sq.m in meteropoiltan.
Room Sizing : As per NBC 2005,The carpet area of multipurpose unit should be 12.5sq.m .If the house is of two room the first room should be not be less than 9sq.m with min width of 2.5m and the second room should be less than 6.5sq.m with min width of 2.1m.Total area should not be less that 15.6sq.m.
Wall height :As per NBC,Minimum Heights of Rooms and spaces should be
Habital Room - 2.75m
Kitchen - 2.6m
bath -2.2m
Corridors - 2.1m
Sloping Roof the average height of roofs to be 2.75m and min height to be 2.1m
Thickness base on Fire & Life safety : As per NBC 2005,for Masonry walls should be 100mm.
Passageway Requirement : As Per NBC 2005,there are certain requirements from table 1 .
Width - 6m length -75m
width -7.5m length -150m
Results : From the NBC we are Able to know how the standards are essential for building
8)Aim & Introduction : To Use these numbers from code book and verify the numbers used in modeling the unit from week 2 to week 4. If the numbers are not reasonable, use the numbers obtained from the code book to create a revision of the model
Procedure :
Height Limitation: As per my model the height is 6m,Which means it has not exceeded 15m,where it is known it obeys NBC
Area Limitation : As per my model the area is 185sq.m that exceeds the min area and obeys NBC
Room Sizing : As per my model the length and width of the room exceeds whereas the are to exceeds and obeys NBC
Wall height: As per my model the wall height is 3m and obeys NBC
Result : It is clear that the model which has been done strictly obeys NBC
