Internal Geneva Mechanism
Step:1
Geneva Driver and Geneva Driven parts are created in Part mode with changing dimensioning system to MMGS
Step:2
a) Open new assembly and insert the Geneva Driver and Driven parts.
b) Right click on Geneva Driven part and change to float prefernce so that part can move.
Now we have to constraint the models
c) Show the hidden axis by selecting View option " click the hidden axis"
d) In mate option Coincide the the Front Plane of the driver and the Front Plane of the assembly
e) In mate option coincide central axis of driver and the Top Plane of the assembly
f) In mate option coincide the central axis of driver and the Right Plane of the assembly , Now Geneva driver is constarined for Rotation only
g) In mate option coincide Front Plane of the driven component and the Front Plane of the assembly
h) In mate option coincide the central axis of driven component and the Right Plane of the assembly
i) In mate option Distance coincide Front Plane of the driven component and the Front Plane of the assembly to 40mm
Measure the distance of center axis of Geneva Driver and Geneva diven in part model sketch, it is measured as 234.09mm
j) In mate option Distance coincide the central axes of the driver and driven component with 234.09mm.
Now assembly model is ready for Motion study
Step 3:
a) Click the Solidworks Add-ins tab and select SOLIDWORKS Motion.
b) Change the option to Motion Analysis in the Animation Tab , a new motion study is created.
c) Go to Motor option , select the Axis of Geneva Driver and give motor speed. 1st case - 10rpm / second case - 20rpm
d) Go to contact solids select the Driver and driven solids and change the material to Steel (dry) for both models.
e) Change the timing for analysis to 20 sec
f) Go to results and plots option and select the body that going to have contact for the motion and give ok
g) Various plots for Contact force and angular discplacement versus time for different speed achieved.
Output:
1) Animation of Geneva driver and Driven part Motion analysis attached
2) Various plots is stored in Excel file attached.
( i tried to export to spread sheet , but only one plot for excel is created so i copied the plot as image file and saved in Excel file)
