Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
Fender distance calculations
Introduction
The fender is the part of a car which is mounted at the front rear the front bumper and above the front wheels and made of sheet metal. This component is mounted onto the chassis and the engine compartment and acts as a protection from debris being thrown off the front wheel and preventing it from throwing it into the pedestrian.

Methodology
There are some distances to be maintained between the fender and the wheels as the wheels are a dynamic component. There shouldnt be any contact between the wheel and the fender under its extreme motion.Inorder to ensure that these non contact criteria, different coutries follow some standard distances between the wheel outer circle and the fender lower line both radially and axially.
If you are considering japan,

The European is as follows.

Then the US standard is as follows.

In this challenge we have to check weather the wheel and fender model confines to the european standard.
We have drawn some sketches as shown below to check the distances.

From the perspective of the wheel the clearance between the wheel and the fender bottom line is to be measured axially and radially at the given linear points.
Axially this distance should be greater that 10 mm at all the sections .The distances we obtain are given in the images below.
At the 30 degree line forward.

At the vertical line

At the 50 degree line aft the wheel.

At the 150 mm line

At the symmetry line

From all the above images it is clear that the wheel fender arrangement is not conforming to the european standards.
Now we have checked the radial distances also and are given below.

Conclusion
The wheel- Fender arrangement is not conforming to the European standards as the distances are not even 10mm in all the sections.
