Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge

AIM:

To check whether the given fender passes the European standard.

FENDER REGULATIONS:

EUROPEAN REGULATION:

Measuring the value L at sections SA, SB, SC,SD,SE .

At all five sections the value should be greater than 10mm to satisfy the european regulations.

US REGULATIONS:

Measuring at every 10° intervals(-20° to 180°).

All should have greater than 5mm to satisfy the regulations

INPUT DESIGN:

PROCEDURE:

As per the European standards the sketch is drawn on the wheel face and the lines of 30° and 50° and a point of 150mm from horizontal axis line and an mid line between 50° and 150mm line.

CALCULATING THE VALUES OF CLEARANCE:

As per the european standard the clearance should be greater than 10mm from the wheel face and fender face.

Measuring "L" for the given Wheel and Fender at SA:

The value "L" at SA is 9.9489mm.

Measuring "L" for the given Wheel and Fender at SB:

The value "L" at SB is 10mm.

Measuring "L" for the given Wheel and Fender at SC:

The value "L" at SC is 0.112637mm.

Measuring "L" for the given Wheel and Fender at SD:

The value "L" at SD is 2.8468mm.

Measuring "L" for the given Wheel and Fender at SE:

The value "L" at SE is 5.9018mm.

RESULT:

CROSS SECTION DISTANCE RESULT
SA 9.489 FAIL
SB 10 PASS
SC 0.1126 FAIL
SD 2.8468 FAIL
SE 5.9018 FAIL

CONCLUSION:

As per our study for European standard the given fender wheel and wheel arch data DOESN'T PASS. To PASS the european standards all the cross section distance L must be greater than 10mm.
