Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
FENDER WHEEL ARC CALCULATION
FENDER
- a fender is the cover for the wheels of the car
- it protects the pedestrians as well as the dust particles from reaching the inner side of the car
- therefore for designing the fender there are various standards for pedestrian concern and the standatds vary from region to region
WHELL ARC AREA CALCULATION FOR EURO STANDARD
EURO STANDARD

as per euro standard there must be 10mm gap between the wheel side face to the wheel arch at the instances of SB SA SC SD SE in top plane
- Here first plane is created using the wheel center and outer tyre as plane
- then sketch is created using the given angle for the five instances and the lines as made to be coincident with the projected wheel arch

- Then another sketch is created on the top plane and first the wheel arch is projected and then the previous sketch lines are projected as points then lines are drawn to connect projected points with the wheel arch

- then the length is measured using smart dimension at the instances as mentioned in the first image

from this we get the results as
SB = 10mm (pass)
SA = 9.94 (fail)
SC = 0.1139 (wheel outside of fender)(fail)
SD = 2.8846 (wheel outside of fender)(fail)
SE = 5.9973 (wheel outside of fender)(fail)
CONCLUSION
Therefore this fender fails the required standard and the standard can be obtained from this fender by altering the curvature by the styling team
