Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge

Aim:

To validate the given fender design with the wheel arc and find out whether it is a successful model or a failure in real world.

Wheel arc standard:

Wheel arc standard is deiffrent in different countries and we in india follow the european standard for the wheel arc and it is shown below in the image.

Wheel arc European standard.

The distnace between the edge of the tier and fender edge should be minimum of 10 mm , this is the minimum requirement and it is very important as it protects the pedestrians from the particles which can stick to the the wheel and while turning the car and when the wheel comes out of the fender area it could allow this particle to go and hit the pedestrians.

Creation:

First a centre point in a wheel is taken and a straight line is drawn and then 30 deg to its left a line is taken this is SB line and next 50 deg to its left a line is drawn which is SC line . Now after these two lines are created from the centre point of the wheel at the distance of 150mm a line is created and the point where that 150mm line intersects with the fender wheel arc a line is cretaed which is the SE line and between this SC and SE an intersection is made which is the SD line.

Now we have these lines and we should measure the distance of each line to the edge of the wheel arc of the fender and its value at all places should be more than 10mm a minimum 10mm is expected .

As it is shown in the above image

SB = 10 against required 10 which is pass.

SA= 9.949 agianst required 10 which is fail.

SC=-0.113 agianst required 10 which is fail.

SD=-3.407 agianst required 10 which is fail.

SE=-7.155 agianst required 10 which is fail.

Conclusion:

From the above observation we can clearly see that only one of the parameter is pass and the rest are fail thus this fender does not pass the European standard regulation.
