Fender Design Challenge

Introduction:
A fender is a car component, which is used to protect the engine compartment and objects from driving. it is the body part above the front wheels of the car. The fender covers the wheel to prevent damage to the car body due to rocks thrown at the body by the tires. The fender also is designed to provide safety to the pedestrian.
Fender is one of the styling components which is exposed to the customer front which cannot be welded. Most of the assembling jointing is done using fasteners, retainer clips, and proper fitting.

Type Of Fender:
Full Bumper Type:
The full bumper type fender was used in old cars, it covers the full area until the front lighting. But it has a lot of sheet metal material which is unnecessary and increases the weight of the fender.

Half Bumper Type
from a single blank of metal, only one full bumper can be manufactured, at the same time, we can produce two half types of the bumper that can be made using a single blank. weight also drastically reduced and performance will be increased.
Fasteners:
Fasteners used in automobiles are nuts, bolts, and washers. Nuts secure the attachment of bolts and screws to a given surface, and they use interior female threading. Bolts are normally threaded with pins and rods; they are characterized by heads and are employed for constructing the wheel. Washers used in automobiles tend to be small, flat discs with holes at their center. They are used to hold several automotive bolts to prevent leakage, distribute pressure, and secure radiators.

DIFFERENT MOUNTINGS IN THE FENDER
The fixture of a fender is done using Nut-Bolt, Screws instead of welding or adhesives. The fender is usually fixed at 4 to 5 locations to keep the vibrations and noise due to the debris and wind low. The fixture locations are:
1.A-Pillar mounting
2.Drip Area
3.Sill mounting
4.Bumper Mounting
5.Baffle Mounting
Important Points to be followed by referring to the Master Section

1) The drip area should be 300 mm or less from the back of the fender to accommodate the Wiper mounting region and easy installing of components in the engine bay and 150 mm away from the bumper mounting region to accommodate the headlight housing.
2) The angle between the good and the fender is 3 degrees minimum.
3) Extra 5 degree angle is given to the fender drip area to block the visibility of the engine when viewed from outside.
4) The fender mounting area distance should not be deeper than 40 mm. Because it is difficult for the tool to produce the part if it is greater than 40 mm.
5) The gap between the engine area and the mounting of the fender should be 10mm or over.
6) The fender should be 0.75 thicken inner side of the Body for class A-Surface
