Fender Design
FENDER:
- Fender is the US English term for the part of an automobile. Its primary purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other road spray from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire. Fenders are typically rigid and can be damaged by contact with the road surface.
- When vehicle is moving, tires pick up stones and others and hurl them in all directions. Fenders are basically present to prevent any injuries to pedestrians and contain the motion of these particles.
TYPES OF FENDERS:
1.FULL BUMPER TYPE:
- This type of bumper is not commonly used because this design is more scrap producing one during manufacturing. The blank of steel or aluminum usedto produce this type has more wastages. This type of bumper increases the production cost.

2.HALF BUMPER TYPE:
- This types of fenders most commonly used because this type of bumper reduces scrap and thus is cost effective to manufaturing.

The front fender has five mounting points.
They are
- Drip mounting
- A- pillar mounting
- Sill mounting
- Bumper mounting
- Baffle mounting
To create the trip area mounting, the given master section is followed and other mounting points are created by taking appropriate positions with respectable components.

1. Drip Area Mounting:
It is the important mounting unit of the fender . it is connected with the engine compartment , therefore the lot of design constraints are to be followed while designing the fender
This cowl top requires adequate mounting space of at least 200mm at the rear end of the fender. As well as the front end of the fender the headlamp housing unit requires 150mm of space. A drip area mounting is created in between these two dimensions.

2. A-Pillar mounting:
This mounting area is located near the cowl top of the vehicle. This A- Pillar mounting is desinged to fit A piller of the car.

3. Sill mounting:
The bottom of the fender is the part that connects to the floor near the bottom edge of the door. The fender is attached with recessed sill mounting fasteners.

4.Bumper mounting:
The bumper mounting area is located at the front end of the fender under the fender. It is with the front bumper of the car attached by fasteners.

5.Baffle mounting:
This baffle mounting part is made for installing the wheel arch.

Conclusion:

The Fender is designed with the necessary mounting points considering the design parameters.
