Fender Design

Introduction

The front fender of a car is that part which covers the front wheels and protects the pedestrians and the vehicle passengers from the debri being thrown off by the front tyres.Inside the front fender we have another plastic covering known as mud gaurd. In this challenge we have to model the front fender from the skin data that is provided as an iges file.

Methodology

As per the master section given below we have to model the fender.

First we have to create a parallel curve from the edge of the surface data and then trim it by creating points and splines at required locations.

these trims are required for the different mounts such as Fender drip area, sill mount body mount,Bumper, and baffle mounts.

Fender drip area is fixed inside the engine compartment and bolted onto the engine compartment.Once the hood is closed ,water is dripped along this area to the ground. The master section for the fender drip are is given in the above image and also the starting and ending distances are also mentioned in the image.

The fender drip are is modeled and the images are shown in the image below.

The sill mounts are modeled as given below.

The body mounting is shown below

Baffle mounts

Bumper mounts.

The whole fender is given in the image below.

Conclusion

The fender modelling is done as per the master section and the skin data.
