Fender Design
DESIGN OF CAR FENDER
Fender is the part of an automobile, motor cycle or other vechile body that frames a wheel well (the fender underside). its primary is to prevent sand ,mud, rocks, liquids and other road spary from being thrown into the air by rotating tire. Fender are typicall rigid and can be damaged by contact with the road surface.

ABOUT FENDER
The fender is a sheet metal part of an automobile. It Plays a vital role in the automobile industry. This type of coverage covers the engine department from the side and works as a shelter for the wheels. Its primary function is to prevent the passenger who is inside the car while rotating the wheel wheels threw the mud, sand, and some tiny particles this time this fender is working as a shelter that protects and restricts the dirt, sands, and some other particles to go inside the car and in the engine department.
OBJECTIVE:
In this project we are going to design the mounts for the Front fender such as drip, sill, bumper, A-pillar, cowl, and baffle for this we are going to design mounts.

MOUNTING
Bumper
The bumper mounting area is used to fix the plastic bumper to the fender with the help of the fasteners
Drip
- It is the important mounting uni of the fender . it is connected with the engine compartment, therefore a lot of design constraints are to be followed while designing the fender
- While designing the drip area we have to initially leave 200-300 mm for the cowl top
- For placing the headlamp we have to leave at least 150 mm at the front while designing the fender
- The cowl top part consists of a wiper motor and its instruments
Sill
The sill is the panel directly below the bottom of the door supporting the floor and may be used to combine the floor and the body. The bottom end of the fender is mounted on the sill body for reinforcement of the fender panel , thus the sill mounting position is designed with holes and emboss. M5 fasteners are used to fix the fenders on the sill body.
BAFFLE MOUNTINGS
Baffle mounting or mudguard are clip-fit types of mounting on the inner side of the fender arch over the Tyre. it protects the car engine compartment and pedestrians from causing injuries from chip-out debris on the road when the car is in motion. they are mounted on the fender using a special type of locking clips which are made up of plastics.
A-PILLER AREA
The A-pillar is the structural pillar that combines the body with the roof . this makes the sides of the windshield rest . front fenders are fastened to the A-pillar to form a robust structure.
FINDER Manfacturing process
Fender's purpose is to prevent rocks, mud, sand, liquids from being thrown into the air or on to the pedestrians by a rotating wheel Fender is made aerodynamic in shape to reduce the air drag.

Manufacturing process The manufacturing of the fender majorly involves these operations.
L.Embossing
2.Bending
3.Cutting and Blanking
Embossing
Embossing Embossing is a metal forming process for producing raised or sunken designs or relief in sheet material using matched male and female roller dies, theoretically with no change in metal thickness, or by passing sheet or a strip of metal between rolls of the desired pattern.
Bending
Metal bending is a process by which metal can be deformed when applying force to the subject, which causes it to bend at an angle and form the anticipated shape, which often results in it being in a 'V' or a 'U' shape. This is done through the application of force on a workpiece. The force on the work piece can be mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic
Cutting and Blanking
Cutting processes are those in which a piece of sheet metal is separated by applying a great enough shearing force to cause the material to fail. Blanking is a steel manufacturing process in which a flat, geometric shape is created by feeding a coil of sheet metal into a press and die in this process, the blank is punched out from the large metal sheet.
TYPES OF BUMPER
Full bumper
Half bumper
MAIN CONSEDARARION
Drip Area :
In out of 5 mounting points drip area is the very critical design.

Mastersection for Design considerations :

Steps to start
- First we need to make the DRIP AREA according to the master section
- Now we need to make the sketch for the emboss.
- Create the emboss according to datum plane where it will get flat surface.
- Now give the edge blend and face blend for the embosses.
- After creating the emboss we need to make DRAT in the middle of the emboss
- Where the drat is used to give the strength to the product when we place an heavy component.
- Repeat this process for the COWL and BUMPER.
- We need to make an SILL for the fender at the bottom.
- Finally we need to SEW and make an all components into single part.
- Now we need to perform the THICKEN command for the fender with 0.75 thickness.
Fender drip area

This region is mounted below the hood inner panel which needs to be in flush when the hood is in closed condition and also there should be very less gaps.
The drip area is either spot welded or in some cases bolted down via self-tapping screws.
Bumper:

The bumper is used in the front of the fender where we use placing a head light of the vehical
Baffels:

Baffels are used to protect the inner parts of the fender and protect wirings of the car and it is used to protect the fender from the damage of the body.
Baffels are plastic components where we can arrange with the help of screws to fix for the fender.
SILL:

Sill is the one type of mounting where we can use in the fender to protect the vehical.
This sill is used in the bottom of the fender.
Sill is the panel directly below the bottom of the door supporting the floor and may be used to combine the floor and the body. The bottom end of the fender is mounted on the sill body for reinforcement of the fender.
Final body

CONCLUSION
Designing of the front fender from the given skin data and the master section with drip mounting , A-pillar, sill, bumper mounting done.
