Fender Design
Fender is the US English term for the part of an automobile vehicle body that frames a wheel inside.
The Primary Purpose Of Fender
- It is used to prevent sand,mud,rocks,liquids and other road spray from being thrown into the air by roating tire. we can simply called it as chipping
- While vehicle is moving the tire rotates in high speed in that process the tire picks up the stones and other hard things and hurl them in all directions
- This fenders are present to prevent any injuries to pedestrains and contain motion of the particals
Design Requirements
- Drip Area
- Wheel Arch
- Baffel and ORVM mount area
We are using half type of bumper in the case of full type of bumper because we have lots of waste around while making full type of bumper.
So, we reduce the scrap by making half type of bumper
Mountings OF Fender
- Drip
- A Pillar

- Sill
- Cowl
- Baffel
Drip Area: is used to join Between the fender and engine compartment so we have to provide some gap of 200mm should be given to rare end of fender for placing a cowl top part in that we are placing some parts called wiper moters. and 150mm of gap should be given in front area for placing a head lamps for vehicle.
All the edges should be given blends, nwith min 3+thickness of the sheet or we have to fallow the master section given to us.
Embosses
While creating Embosses we should have to give same type of emboss with same length and dimenssion so it is easy to manufacture the parts and less cost is produced, and if we give different types of embosses like circle emboss and in some area rectangular emboss the mission will not take those parts for manufacture.
so in the industry we have to provide only same type of embosses to manufacture as per machine.
Flanges
Flanges are provided in all the mounting areas according to there angels.
Holes
Fasteners are inserted and used to fix all these mountings with the help of nut and screw we should have to provide some clearance flat surface around 5mm or req mm as per mastersections so the the head of screw will place correctly on the clearance flat suface and it will become teight or else it will become loose while running the vehicle and leads to some noices and disturbance.
Springback
we should have to provide some supports like stiffner or bead to give some strength to flanges so that it will be in strong position orelse the spring back effect will occure mainly in drip area
