Door Arm Rest Week 8 Challenge

CONCEPT : Design and draft analysis of DOOR ARM REST In CATIA

VERSION USED : CATIA V5

GENERATIVE SHAPE DESIGN :

OPERATIONS :

  • CLASS A SURFACE
  • CLASS B SURFACE
  • CLASS C SURFACE

INPUTS : CLASS A SURFACE

PROCEDURE IN STEP BY STEP METHOD :

For the given class A surface Tooling direction and tooling axis must be find out for the component extracting from the original equipment manufacturings to described the tooling axis and drafting of the component plays a major role.

Here are some images of my draft analysis of the component of my design can be cleared in a single direction represented in my tooling direction here sometimes major part and front coin holding part doesn't clear with actual tooling direction so the design engineer must think how to extract the component with obtaing flash and to extract the component in aesthetic manner here engineers use sliders for some cases the extract the component using the sliders help my increases component cool; and should be involved new course to extract the the component coming to my design my component is cleared in single tooling direction,

TOOLING DRAFT ANALYSIS :

Tooling direction clearing the top surface .

Creating tooling axis

Given A class surface :

OPERATION to be done is to create class B surface using class A surface

Extarcting the class A surface and making the thickness of 2.5mm from the class A surface to represent my Class B surface

First portion of the arm rester / second portion of the arm rest

Creating Walls :

CREATING CLASS B SURFACE :

Giving edge fillets and trim the surfaces to get final Class b surface

Creating Smooth aesthetic finishing using class A surface and sketching in positioned sketch .

Commands used [ point , multiple extract, curve smooth, blend , exlapolate ]

Final Sweep with Class b surface after triming with first & second surfaces :

FINAL CLASS B SURFACE :

CREATING CLASS C SURFACE :

Swept surface and commands used is also explained in below images.

CLASS C SURFACE :

Joining the Class A & Class C surface

FINALLY,Class C surface is done now trim class C surface and class B surface to get final output.

RESULT :

Closedbody ready for manufacturing.
