Creating Walls, Partition walls and Floors for a residential layout using REVIT

1)

Use the project file created from Week 2. Use it for this assignment. Based on your layout from week 2, using floor tool under architecture tab and select the floor with appropriate material and thickness using the property browser create a layout in the Ground floor Level. Align the floor plan with grids created from week 2

AIM :

Based on week2 layout provide floor and thickness to floor, provide appropriate material to floor, align the floor plan with grids created from week-2.

INTRODUCTION :

we have Used the project file created from Week 2. we have Used it for this assignment. Based on our layout from week 2, used floor tool under architecture tab and selected the floor with appropriate material and thickness using the property browser created a layout in the Ground floor Level. we have Aligned the floor plan with grids created from week 2

PROCEDURE :

step-1:

- open the revit

- select week-2 layout > and open it

- go to ground floor plan using project browser

- go to architecture tab > select floor then select floor architecture

- select pick lines from draw tab

- select all exterior wall lines and select finish edit mode

step-2 :

- for thickness and material for floor

- select the floor > go to project browser> select edit type

- select edit > in material column select material for floor > for thickness to floor type thickness

step-3:

- align the floor plan with grids

- go to ground level floor plan in project browser> select floor plan

- select move > align the floor plan on grid

RESULT :

we have created model Based on week2 layout provided floor and thickness to floor, provided appropriate material to floor, we have aligned the floor plan with grids created from week-2.

2)

Add walls based on the floor layout. Pick lines or use the draw tool to modify the boundary of walls. Use the property browser to select appropriate material and thickness for walls. After creating the walls verify using the property browser to see if the top and bottom of the walls are constrained.

a. Based on your observation, what is beneficial for connecting walls with associated levels rather than being Unconnected
b. Which option is convenient for modeling walls, By Height or By Depth?

AIM : add walls based on the floor layout, modify boundary walls, provide appropriate material and thickness for walls, after that verifyif the top and bottom of the walls are constrained.

a. Based on your observation, what is beneficial for connecting walls with associated levels rather than being Unconnected
b. Which option is convenient for modeling walls, By Height or By Depth?

INTRODUCTION :

walls are important component of building in revit we need to be very careful while drawing walls. in this project we have learned ho to modify properties of wall in revit, we have understood the concept of connecting walls with associated levels.

PROCEDURE :

step-1 :

- select the walls > go to project browser

- go to edit type > select duplicate > type name as exterior wall 9"

- edit assembly table will appeared

- select the material for wall > type a thickness of wall as 9" > press ok

- select the walls > go to project browser

- go to edit type > select duplicate > type name as exterior wall 4.5"

- select the material for wall > type a thickness of wall as 4.5"

a. Based on your observation, what is beneficial for connecting walls with associated levels rather than being Unconnected

ans- based on my observation making a height for levels in elevation view which we want and then going to top constraint and selecting levels for connecting wall is beneficial rather than being unconnected.

b. Which option is convenient for modeling walls, By Height or By Depth?

ans- both option are convenient but by connecting heights is more suitable for me as they dont disturb the base level than going depth option. but some cases we need to go below the level then preferring depth option will be good.

RESULT :

we have added walls based on the floor layout, modified boundary walls, provided appropriate material and thickness for walls, after that verifyi the top and bottom of the walls are constrained.

3.Copy the model elements ( wall, floor ) modelled to Ground Floor Level and paste it aligned to First Floor Level . Use modify tab to utilize copy and paste options to align elements to a different level

AIM :

Copy the model elements ( wall, floor ) modelled to Ground Floor Level and paste it aligned to First Floor Level .

INTRODUCTION :

In this project we have copied th model elements ( wall, floor ) modelled to Ground Floor Level and paste it aligned to First Floor Level . we have Used modify tab to utilize copy and paste options to align elements to a different level.

PROCEDURE :

- go to project browser > select ground level plan > select he floor plan

- go to modify tab > select paste > select aligned to selected level

- then select the first floor plan > press ok

4)

Use interior partition walls to create separate rooms within your residential unit. The model must include the following rooms

a. Living Room/ Drawing Room ( 15’ X 18’)
b. Dining Room (9’ X 11’)
c. Bed Room ( 9’ X 12’ and 15’ X 11’)
d. Rest Room ( 10’ X 12’ )
e. Kitchen (8’ X 10’)

The above are for examples. You can use them or use your measured entities to create your model based on your layout. You may include entry walkway, Patios or Guest
rooms based on your creativity and purpose of modeling. Convert units if you are using metric system

AIM : Use interior partition walls to create separate rooms within your residential unit.

INTRODUCTION :

the partition wall is the non load bearing walls, it doesnt carry any load of floor, ceiling etc. they used only for design or partition purpose. in this project we have learned how to provide partition walls

PROCEDURE :

- we have used the same residential plan as used in above projects

- select walls > go to wall architecture > go to properties > select partition walls

- partition wall will assign to walls

RESULT :

we have Used interior partition walls to created separate rooms within your residential unit.

5)

Based on week 2 assignment, the components to be included in a residential unit were inserted to the Revit file. Place these components in appropriate locations to add details to your residential model

a. Place Doors and windows in the wall at appropriate locations
b. The Living Room must include furniture set, couch table and TV desk and shelf cabinets
c. The Dining Room must include a table and chairs serving the purpose of eating
d. Bed Room must include a bed set, shelf, lighting and individual study desk and chair
e. Rest room should include bath tub and plumbing fixtures discussed in class
f. Kitchen should include countertops, gas stove cabinet and shelves to store food items
g. The wash/storage room can include washing machines and shelves to store clothes

All the components are available in Revit Library. Use them to place at appropriate locations to add details to your model. Use 3D navigation to check the model and its authenticity on a real time basis to verify the model

INTRODUCTION :

in this drawing we have shown families installation as per room requirements.

PROCEDURE :

- go to 2d ground floor plan

- install all the families inside the floor plan

- go to insert > select load families

- go to project browser select families > and drag the families in drawings

1. door and windows

2. leaving room

The Living Room must include furniture set, couch table and TV desk and shelf cabinets

3.The Dining Room must include a table and chairs serving the purpose of eating

4. Bed Room must include a bed set, shelf, lighting and individual study desk and chair

5. Rest room should include bath tub and plumbing fixtures discussed in class

6. Kitchen should include countertops, gas stove cabinet and shelves to store food items

7.The wash/storage room can include washing machines and shelves to store clothes

RESULT :

Based on week 2 assignment, the components to be included in a residential unit have inserted to the Revit file.
