Challenge

Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo

QUESION 1 ANSWER

AIM :Using Dynamo create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Open a new architecture file and click on dynamo under mange tab
  2. Click new project in dynamo
  3. Now in dynamo search interger slider in the search bar to the left of screen
  4. Insert 3 integer sliders and rename them as start, end ,step.
  5. Now search for Range in the bar and insert it and connect the integer sliders to the range
  6. Now search for point by coordinates and connect range to it
  7. You can see points in x axis
  8. Now search for math.sin to insert sin function
  9. Now We need to amplify it ,add another integer slider and rename it as amplifier
  10. Now search for product and connect math sin to x and amplifier to y
  11. Now add another integer slider to set the phase to sin curve ,use add operator ,connect the previous product to x and phase to y
  12. Now We created sin points ,we need to create curve
  13. Search Nurbs curve by control points and connect point co ordinate to it
  14. Now copy the entire code and paste them 2 times to get 2 more curves
  15. Change the phase to 2 see the other curves
  16. Now select list from search bar and connect the 3 curves to the list
  17. Finally to get the surface click Loft by surface and connect the list to it

RESULT : We created a set of sin points ,a sin curve and a surface using dynamo

QUESTION 2 ANSWER

AIM: To make a conceptual floor plan layout in dynamo

PROCEDURE :

  1. Open dynamo and open a new project
  2. Now insert 2 integer sliders and 4 point by co ordinates
  3. connect them as shown in fig
  4. Now connect the four points using lines by using line by start pt and end pt option
  5. Now make a list of the 4 lines
  6. Now search for wall by curve and height ,also insert levels ,wall types, and another integer slider to change the height of wall
  7. Connect them as shown in fig
  8. You can set the level, wall type ,wall height from there.
  9. You can check the wall by going into 3 d view
  10. Now to create a floor search for floor by outline type and level
  11. Insert floor types and connect it to floor outline type and level

RESULT : We created walls and floor using dynamo

QUESTION 3 ANSWER

AIM : To create an array of model elements in Revit and use dynamo to vary the properties

PROCEDURE :

  1. Open a new architectural revit tab and click on column
  2. Place a set of columns like as shown in the fig
  3. Now open dynamo and search for select model elements (multiple one )
  4. Select the columns from revit tab
  5. Now search for set rotation and insert family instance set rotation
  6. Also insert another integer slider to set the angle
  7. Connect them as shown in the fig
  8. You can change the angle by integer slider
  9. After selecting the elements in revit ,they will automatically rotate by 45 degree (as set by the integer slider)

QUESTION 4 ANSWER

AIM : To create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by developing the surfaces

PROCEDURE :

  1. Open a new architecture tab and go to new conceptual mass
  2. Now click on metric mass
  3. Go to the elevation view and create a new level at a heidgt of 12 feet
  4. Now go to floor plan view and Click on model and select the s shape shown below
  5. Draw a s Shaped fig as shown in the fig
  6. Now go to 3 d view and click on set plane option
  7. And set the planes at 4 points by clicking on set again
  8. After setting the planes click on circumsribed polygon and set them in planes with 12 feet as radius
  9. Now select the 4 polygons and the curve and click on create form (solid form)
  10. After creating the solid form click on the form and then click on divide surface
  11. Now go to properties browser and select triangle bent from it

RESULT : We created a conceptual mass, divided the surface of it and we set triangular bent shape panel to add finish to it

QUESTION 5 ANSWER

AIM :

  1. Open a New revit architecture tab and open dynamo
  2. Add 2 integer sliders and rename them as levels and floor to floor height
  3. Now create a new code block as shown below and connect the levels and fllor height to it
  4. Now connect this code block to z axis of coordinate system by origin
  5. Now insert rectangle by width and length
  6. To set the length and width add 2 more integer sliders and rename them and connect them to it as shown
  7. Now add 2 more integer sliders to as the rotations as top floor and bottom floor rotation and connect them to another code block as shown below
  8. Now to search for geometry rotate by axis degree
  9. Add point origin,Vector z axis and connect them as shown below
  10. Now finally to get the surface search for loft by surface and connect the geometry to it

RESULT : We created a parametric stadium using dynamo

Note : Actually i submitted challenge on time but after writing last question ,due to internet issue last question did not saved ,and i have to type and insert the images again due to which i was unable to submit it on time
