Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo
Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo
AIM:
To create Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo
INTRODUTION:
Conceptual mass allows us to create objects in a fast and easy way, with the goal of obtaining an abstract object through which we will be able to conceptualize a project. Thanks to conceptual masses, we can have a much closer idea of which shape our construction will have.
Dynamo is a graphical programming interface that lets you customize your building information workflow. Dynamo is an open source visual programming platform for designers. It is installed as part of Revit along with Revit specific programming nodes.
PROCEDURE:
1) Using Dynamo create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve.
Step 1:
- Open REVIT softaware, click manage tab it shown dynamo option
- Click Manage > Dynamo

- The Dynamo home page is appeared

- Select New option and start to work in dynamo
- In the library search box to search integer slider
- We need three integer slider so click ctrl+c and ctrl+v

- Add range

- Connect three integer slider to range appropriately
- Add point by coordinates, code block, math sin, product
- Connect range to first x-coordinate point and to math sin and to second x-coordinate point

Step 2:
- Now connect properly in the appropriate points and add product
- Set code block into 50, connect to y-product and second z-coordinate point
- Next conncet product to first z- coordinate point
- Connct math.sin to x-product and second y-coordinate point

- Add nurbs curve, list, surface loft in the library search
- Connect first coordinate point to points of first nurbscurve
- Connect second coordinate point to points of second nurbscurve
- Create list item0 and item1
- Now connect two nurbscurve to item0 and item1
- At last connect list to surface by loft

Result:
The sinusoidal points, curve, surface are created successfully using Dynamo in Revit.

2) Create a conceptual layout of floor plan in dynamo . Using the tools available in dynamo link the lines to appropriate model elements in Revit by choosing the wall types and wall parameters. Make use of the sliders to slide through the height of the wall and length of the wall.
Step 1:
- Open REVIT software, go to manage tab > select Dynamo

- Add integer slider from the library search
- Assign the value of integer slider is 100

- Add four point by coordinates using copy(ctrl+c), paste(ctrl+v) option
- connect the integer slider to different point of coordinates appropriately

- Next add line starting point end point option
- Connect different sector of points to be placed in line

- Now chect the diagram the four points is created

Step 2:
- Now create the wall in level1
- So add list, wall type, level, integer slider
- Connect the points appropriately

- Add wall by curve and height option
- Connect the curve, wall type, height and level

- Now go to revit to check it, the wall has been created

- And last add floor types and floor by outline
- Connect the outline curves, floor type and level

Result:
The conceptual layout of floor plan has been created using Dynamo in Revit.

3) Create an array of model elements in Revit. Use dynamo to vary the properties of model elements by using the slider or code block
Step 1:
- Open revit software and select architectural
- Create columns 24" x 24"

- Add model elements, integer slider, rotatioin(family instance)
- Click select option in select model elements
- Then goto revit select the four columns
- Connect elements to family instance and integer slider to degree

Result:
The array of model elements has been created successfully using Dynamo in Revit.

4) Create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and apply the concepts similar to used in parametric walkway modelling. Use triangular bent or square shaped panels to add finish to the parametric column
Step 1:
- Open REVIT software and select conceptual mass

- The dialog box appear then select metric mass and open

- Change to elevation view and create one more level at distance 12'

- Change the view floor level1 and use spline option to create the curve
- Create > model > spline

Step 2:
- Change to 3d view option
- Set the work plane in each points

- Select circumscribed polygon and draw the desired set of work plane at 12'

- Now select a curve and work plane polygon
- Click the solid form option

- Select the all elements and filter it
- Select only Form option

- Divide the surface

- Now select the Triangle bent option

Result:
The conceptual mass has been created and triangular bent also applied using Revit.

5) Use Dynamo to work on developing a Parametric Stadium. List your parameters and use the visual programming approach to complete the modelling, You can use the concepts discussed in parametric high rise tower in class for reference.
Step 1:
- Open REVIT software and select Dynamo in manage tab
- Add four integer slider in library search
- Give it to the name Number of levels, Floor to Floor Height, Bottom floor rotation, Top floor rotation

- Add Code block, coordinate system, rectangle
- Connect Number of levels and Floor to floor height to code block
- Connect code block to z-coordinate system
- Connect coordinate system to coordinate system-rectangle

- Add integer slide, rectangle by width/length
- Rename the integer slider to width/length of rectangle
- Connect width/length of rectangle to width, length of rectangle

- Check it the levels, width and length of rectangle is created

Step 2:
- Add code block, point origin, vector.ZAxis, geometry rotate, polysurface by loft
- Connect to desired point at appropriate

- open revit to chect it
- Top view

- 3d view

Result:
The parametric stadium is created successfully using Dynamo in Revit.
