Challenge

Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo

Q 1) Using Dynamo create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve.

Aim:- To create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve by using Dynamo

Producer:-

  1. open Revit software with a new architectural template to open Dynamo go to manage>dynamo
  2. open the dynamo by clicking on it, and open a new file on dynamo.
  3. first, insert three integer sliders. and rename as start, end & step.
  4. insert Range and connect the integer slider to the Range.
  5. add 'point by coordinate' and connect the range to the x-axis of the coordinate.
  6. insert 'math. sin' and connect range to math. sin
  7. insert a code block and named it as 'Amplifier'
  8. add a product, and connect math. sin to product x, and amplifier to product y
  9. insert an addition and connect the product to addition x
  10. insert an integer number and it with addition y
  11. connect addition to the y-axis of point by coordinate.
  12. now we can see the sinusoidal point
  13. now to create a sinusoidal curve, insert 'NurbsCurve.BycontrolPoints' connect NurbsCurve.BycontrolPoints (point) to point.by coordinate(point).
  14. the sinusoidal curve has been created.
  15. Let's now create a surface out of the sinusoidal curve.
  16. follow the same step and create other curves.
  17. insert a 'list create' and connect all curves t list create.
  18. insert 'surface.byLoft' and connect it with the list created.

Result:-

Q 2) Create a conceptual layout of the floor plan in dynamo. Using the tools available in dynamo link the lines to appropriate model elements in Revit by choosing the wall types and wall parameters. Make use of the sliders to slide through the height of the wall and the length of the wall.

Aim:- To create a conceptual layout of the floor plan in dynamo.

Producer:-

  1. open a new dynamo file.
  2. add two integer sliders and named them as 'x' & 'y'.
  3. insert 'point by coordinate' and named them as origin, x-axis, y-axis, and XY-axis.
  4. now connect the following, first integer slider 'X' to x-axis 'x' and y-axis 'y'.
  5. connect second integer slider 'Y' to y-axis 'x' and XY-axis 'y'.
  6. insert 'line.bystartpointendpoint'.
  7. Insert 'list create' and connect each line.bystartpointendpoint as a fellow.
  8. insert Levels, wall type, an integer slider(height), and wall by curve and height.
  9. connect as fellow
  10. List Create 'list' to Wall.ByCurveAndHeight 'curve'.
  11. Levels 'levels' to Wall.ByCurveAndHeight 'level'.
  12. Wall Types 'wall type' to Wall.ByCurveAndHeight 'wall type'.
  13. Integer slider (height) to Wall.ByCurveAndHeight 'height'.
  14. now we can see the wall in Revit.
  15. let's create a floor, for that insert Floor Type, Levels, Floor.ByOutlineTypeAndLevel.
  16. connect, List.Create(list) to Floor.ByOutlineTypeAndLeve(outlineCurve), Levels(level) to Floor.ByOutlineTypeAndLeve(level), Floor Types (floor type) to Floor.ByOutlineTypeAndLeve (floorType).

Result:-

Q 3) Create an array of model elements in Revit. Use dynamo to vary the properties of model elements by using the slider or code block

Aim:- To create an array of model elements in Revit using Dynamo.

Producer:-

  1. open a new architectural file.
  2. place some architectural colunm.
  3. now, open Dynamo and insert the 'Select model elements'.
  4. select the elements from Revit.
  5. insert an integer slider and FamilyInstance.SetRotation.
  6. connect Select Model Elements (elements) to FamilyInstance.SetRotation (FamilyInstance) and FamilyInstance.SetRotation (degree) to integer slider.

Result:- As we are changing integer, we can see the rotation of column in Revit.

Q 4) Create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and applying the concepts similar to those used in parametric walkway modeling. Use triangular bent or square-shaped panels to add a finish to the parametric column

Aim:- To create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and applying the concepts similar to those used in parametric walkway modeling and using triangular bent or square-shaped panels to add a finish to the parametric column.

Producer:-

  1. open Revit software
  2. go to new>conceptual mass
  3. open conceptual mass>matric mass
  4. go to elevation and add a level at 12meter.
  5. go to level 1 floor plan, create>model line>spline
  6. now, set the plane for that to go to modify>set work plane>show.
  7. circumscribe polygon on each set plane
  8. to create a form go to create>select spline> create form> solid form
  9. Select Form and divide the surface.
  10. go to properties>pattern>triangular bent

Result:-

Q 5) Use Dynamo to work on developing a Parametric Stadium. List your parameters and use the visual programming approach to complete the modeling, You can use the concepts discussed in the parametric high rise tower in class for reference.

Aim:- To create a parametric high-rise tower using Dynamo.

Producer:-

  1. Open a new Architectural templet and a new Dynamo.
  2. add two integer sliders and named them as the Number of levels and Floor to floor height.
  3. add a code block and provide codes as below
  4. connect No. of level to Code Block (levels) and Floor to floor height to Code Block (Floorheight)
  5. Insert 'Point.ByCoordinates', 'rectangle.bywidthlength', and 'CoordinateSystem.ByOrigin'.
  6. Add four more Integer Sliders and named them Width, Lenght, Top Floor rotation, and Bottom Floor rotation.
  7. connect Code Block to Point.ByCoordinates (z), and CoordinateSystem.ByOrigin (z).
  8. connect Point.ByCoordinates (coordinateSystem) to Rectangle.BywidthLength (coordinateSystem).
  9. connect Width to Rectangle.BywidthLength (width).
  10. connect Length to Rectangle.BywidthLength (length).
  11. add a Code Block as code below.
  12. connect Number of Levels to Code Block (levels).
  13. connect Bottom Floor Rotation of Levels to Code Block (bottom).
  14. connect Top Floor Rotation of Levels to Code Block (Top).
  15. insert Vector.Zaxis, Point.Origin, Geometry.Rotate, PolySurface.ByLoft.
  16. connect Point.Origin (point) to Geometry.Rotate (origin)
  17. connect Vector.ZAxis (Vector) to Geometry.Rotate (axis)
  18. connect Code Block () to Geometry.Rotate (degrees)
  19. connect Rectangle.ByWifthLength (rectangle) to Geometry.Rotate (geometry)
  20. connect Geometry.Rotate (geometry) to PolySurface.ByLoft.
