Creating Bar Bending schedule, Different Door types, and Creation of standard drawing templates using AutoCad

AIM:- To Create Bar Bending schedule, Different Door types, and Creation standard drawing templates using AutoCad

INTRODUCTION:-

  • Drawing template files are drawings that store styles, settings, layers, and layouts in a drawing including title blocks. When you create a new drawing based on a drawing template, the new drawing gets a copy of the styles in the template, but it is a one-time copy. Doors are drawn in plan view as a heavy line in small-scale drawings, or as a double line, to indicate their thickness, in large-scaled plans. A swing door has a thinner curved line drawn to denote the direction of its swing. The drawings of doors are drawn by the architects in the construction projects.
  • Electrical symbols are used for universal recognition of the building plan by different persons who will be working on the construction. Not all possible electric symbols are used on a certain plan, so the symbols used in the current home plan are included in a legend. The electrical home plan may be added as a separate document to a complete set.
  • Bar Bending Schedule is a definitive list of reinforcement bars for any structural element that includes a mark, shape, size, location, length, and bending details of the reinforcement. It is often referred to as BBS. Tabular view representation of each reinforcement bar used in any structural element is known as BBS.

1) Create the templates as shown in the Figures. Take the size of the title block as per industry standards or you can assume it as per the size of the paper. Use text and attributes wherever required. After creating the title block you need to save it as a block with names: Custom1_titleblock and Custom2_titleblock, respectively.

Procedure:

a) Custom 1_title block

  • Create a rectangle of 66.63mm and 158mm.
  • Divide the line for the text into columns.
  • For rows take offset of 5,10,5,5,8,30,15,15,20,20,10,15mm.
  • By multiline text, type rev, description, by date, the date on the first row by text height 2.5 and style as Times New Roman.
  • Again use multiline text and type the required text in caps with text height 1.5 and style as Times New Roman.
  • Now create the block using block command give the name as Custom 1_title block-select pick point and select a point in the table-select the object-select the whole table including the text.
  • Select convert to block option and give scale uniformly and tick allow exploding.

b) Custom 2_title block

  • Draw a rectangle of 252 and 46mm.
  • With lines divide the required rows and columns.
  • Using multiline text insert the following height 2.5.
  • Create a small rectangle at the right corner, explode it, create rows and columns.
  • By attributes create the text inside it.
  • Command "ATT"-attribute definition dialogue box appears.
  • Create attributes similarly for the rest of the text.
  • Now create the block using the block command with the name Custom 2_title block, select the whole title block and make it a block.
  • After creating it as a block we can see that all attributes will change to their default values.

Result: Custom 1_title block and Custom 2_title block are created

2) Create the doors type for the warehouse as shown in the Figure. You need to create each door type as per standard size or given dimensions. Create the blocks of this door type after creating them.

Procedure:

a) Door 1- 2330x2750mm

  • Create a rectangle of size 2330x2750mm.
  • Offset 50mm as a frame and 90mmfor the left side and explore the rectangle.
  • Using the divide command divides the top line segment into 4 segments.
  • From the division point draw line vertically to divide it into shutters.
  • Offset 25mm on both sides for the thickness and delete the centerline.
  • Now create a rectangle to show the panels.
  • Offset 20mm from the 1st rectangle and offset 100mm from the 2nd rectangle.
  • Draw lines joining the corners of the outside and inside the rectangle.
  • Create the panel as a block.
  • Array the panels, taking rectangular array, rows 3 distance between them 900mm and columns 4 distance between them 567mm.
  • Create the lock by rectangular command and fillet the corners with a radius of 5mm.
  • The layer is created and all the objects are kept in different layers.
  • Create the block using block command and give name as door 1, select corner point, select object, select the full object.
  • Select scale uniformly and allow exploding.

b) Door-2330x2750mm

  • Create a rectangle of size 2330x2750mm.
  • Offset 50mm as frame and 90mm for the left side and explore the rectangle.
  • By divide, the command divides the top line into 4 segments.
  • From the division point draw line vertically to divide it into shutters.
  • Offset 25mm on both sides for the thickness and delete the centerline.
  • The layer is created and all the objects are kept in different layers.
  • Create the block using block command and give name as door 2, select corner point, select object, select the full object.
  • Select scale uniformly and allow exploding.

3) Create each symbol as a block with the name given in the legend. After creating the blocks arrange them in the legend as shown in the Figure.

Procedure:

a) Creating electrical symbols:

  • Single gang switch: draw a circle of radius 64mm and with line draw an inclined line vertical line and horizontal line perpendicular to the inclines as required.
  • Double gang switch: Draw a circle and draw two horizontal lines and a vertical incline line.
  • Triple gang switch: Draw circle, 1 vertical line, and three horizontal lines.

  • Double two-way switch: draw the same as double gang switch and create donuts.
  • Triple two-way switch: draw same as triple gang creates a donut.
  • Switch cross: create a circle and donut inside and with line command draws an incline vertical and perpendicular horizontal and mirror the line in both directions.
  • Switch serial: copy the switch cross and delete two bottom lines, remove the donut also.
  • Single socket: Create a circle, divide it into half and draw a line at the top.
  • Single socket for the lamp: from the single socket, draw a horizontal line perpendicular to vertical.
  • Double socket: draw the single socket and copy it to create and place it.
  • Floor socket single: draw a rectangle surrounding a single socket.
  • Floor single socket for the lamp: draw a rectangle surrounding a single socket for the lamp.
  • Floor socket doubles: create two single sockets and place a rectangle surrounding them.
  • Floor socket single telephone: draw a single socket, a triangle, and surrounded by a rectangle.
  • Floor socket double telephone: draw 2 single sockets and a triangle surrounded by a rectangle.
  • Telephone socket: draw a triangle.
  • Internet socket: insert text "i" in the triangle.
  • Tv socket: insert text"TV" in the triangle.
  • Weatherproof socket: insert text"w" in the triangle.
  • Dect base section: draw a rectangle, select the bottom grip point, select add vertex, and then pull the vertex to create a bend, and with lines draw the lines.
  • Wall bracket: with rectangular draw the base, create a circle, draw a line connecting the rectangle and circle, draw a cross line inside the circle.
  • Picture lamp: Draw two rectangles connected by a line.

b) Creating them as blocks:

  • Give command B and give name as single gang switch, pick a point, select object, tick scale uniformly, and allow exploding options.
  • Similarly, define each one of them as a block giving the respective names.

c) Creating and arranging them in layers:

  • First, create a rectangular table having 10 rows and 6 columns.
  • Place each of the blocks in the respective rows and columns.
  • To enter text with the block from the insert tab, select field, select object, and finally select block.
  • Place the text in the respective rows give text height as 100.
  • Similarly, place all the titles inside the legends.
