Benchmarking

INTRODUCTION TO BENCHMARKING

Benchmarking is the technical term of "Comparision" here what we will do as an engineer before launching our product in the market we first analyze the same existing products in the market manufactured by different companies try to find their pros and cons and implement this data in our product so that our product will stand out among different products in the market and hence this concept helps us in the growth of our coompany.

this concept not only limited to the End product but also it applicable for Services, Technology and Various processes involves in the making of products.

GOAL OF BENCHMARKING

  • Improvement of the product can be done in two ways.

1- Continuous improvement : Known as KAIZEN

2- Dramatic improvement : Known as BUSINESS PROCESS RE-ENGINEERING

GRAPH DEPICTING THE NEED OF BENCHMARKING

CLASSIFICATION OF BENCHMARKING : Benchmarking are classified into two different categories.

1- Technical benchmarking- It is performed by the designing team to deteremine the performance of their products they see only the technical aspects of their products, so (BENCHMARKING II) will come under this category.

2- Competitive benchmarking- It takes care how well ( poor) our organization performed with respect to the leading competitiors in the market, so (BENCHMARKING I) will come under this category.

PROCEDURE OF BENCH MARKING

Now coming to our question,

Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii's requirement are

  • He lives in city (crowded place).
  • He needs atleast 5 seating capacity car
  • He has a budget of 8-10 lakh.
  • He is fond of big car.

in my opinion they can go with SUV'S and SEDAN

LIST OF 4 SUV'S WITH COMARISION :

MODEL TRANSMISSION TYPE FUEL TYPE MILAGE (CITY) COST
TATA PUNCH AUTOMATIC PETROL 14.42 KMPL 8.98 lakh Rs.
MARUTI VITARA BREZZA MANUAL PETROL ---- 9.98 lakh Rs.
HYUNDAI VENUE MANUAL DIESEL ---- 9.99 lakh Rs.
TATA NEXON MANUAL DIESEL 16.8 KMPL 9.69 lakh Rs.

Tata nexon is very spacious among all the cars listed above.

If we compare the milage then also TATA NEXON will be our choice.

If we want AUTOMATIC transmission then TATA PUNCH will be our choice.

ARAI milage of HYUNDAI VENUE is highest 23.7kmpl.

Fuel tank capacity of MARUTI VITARA BREZZA is highest.

Considering advantages of all the car, the maximum advantage is in TATA NEXON, so if Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii wants SUV he should go for TATA NEXON.

LIST OF 4 SEDAN WITH COMPARISION :

MODEL TRANSMISSION TYPE FUEL TYPE MILAGE (CITY) COST
HYUNDAI VERNA MANUAL DIESEL ---- 10.92 LAKH
HONDA CITY (4TH GEN.) MANUAL PETROL 13.86 KMPL 9.29 LAKH
TATA TIGOR AUTOMATIC PETROL 12.34 KMPL 8.11 LAKH
HONDA AMAZE MANUAL DIESEL ----- 9.32 LAKH

HYUNDAI VERNA is very spacious among all the sedans.

If we compare the milage then HONDA CITY is a best choice for us.

If we compare the fuel tank capacity then HYUNDAI VERNA is best choice for us having capacity of 45 litres.

Considering advantages of all the car, the maximum advantage is in HYUNDAI VERNA, so if Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii wants SEDAN he should go for HYUNDAI VERNA.

CONCLUSION

Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is fond of Big cars so most preferred choice according to me is SUV and then SEDAN.
