Benchmarking
Benchmarking - It is the process of comparing the performance or process of the various product from the different brands to conclude the best in that and also to understand that what needs to improve the performance or process.
In Automotive Industry in India, there are lot of car segments are continuously manufacturing and selling successfully like More on Hatback, SUV, Sedan, MPV, etc., also with more variants. Because of this Everyone has more confusion to finalise the car when they are going buy. Likewise, Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii also needs some suggestion to buy a new car with his some requirements.
The Requirements are,
- Include his, he has five family members. His father, his mother, his wife and his 5 year old boy.
- He lives in Bangalore(the highly crowded city) and He is going to use his car to commute to office.
- Monthly once he is going to visit madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore.
- Pughazhyendhii likes big cars and his budget is in 8lakhs to 10lakhs onroad.
Selection Criteria:
- Mileage - He is going to use his car on regular basics, that's why this has to be taken account.
- Boot Space - Monthly once he travel around 500kms, so that the car must have a boot space to carry 5 members laguage.
- Cabin Space - Car should have enough cabin space for 5 members
- Safety Rating - Now a days people has more awareness on their safety while driving, that's why we can see that those cars which have good safety ratings will sell more on our market. Here, Pughazhyendhii has travel with his entire family so that the car should have the good safety rating too.
Based on this selection criteria, we can roughly select SUV and Sedan. In this we can "select the Sedan" because of the following reasons,
- Easy ingress and egress for his mother and father to the car compare to SUV. Because of that they are quite older and SUV has more ground clearance.
- More Boot Space compare to the SUV.
- Tata Punch 366 litres
- Tata Nexon 350 litres
- Hyundai Venue 350 litres
- Mahindra XUV 3OO 257 litres
- Kia Sonet 392 litres
- Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza 328 litres
- Vehicle has well planted while driving on higways compare to the SUV.
In this Segment(Sedan), there are lot of cars from different brands.
- Hyundai Aura
- Honda Amaze
- Skoda Rapid
- Maruti Suzuki Dzire
- Maruti Suzuki Ciaz
- Volkswagon Vento
- Hyundai Verna
- Ford Aspire
- Tata Tigor
Among this sedan cars, We can select "Tata Tigor, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze". Remaining cars we neglected because of the onroad price(As per Bangalore) range and no more presence in our Indian Market.
- Tata Tigor:
- Maruti Suzuki Dzire:
- Hyundai Aura:
- Honda Amaze:
The above 4 cars has rated out of 25 based on the collected Engine Specification, Cabin Space(Based on Width and Wheel Base), Boot Space, Safety Rating and Mileage Data's. So that Tata Tigor has scored "16.5/25", Maruti Suzuki Dzire has scored "15.5/25", Hyundai Aura has scored "14.5/25" and Honda Amaze has scored "20/25". Based on these scorings we can suggest that "Honda Amaze" is better than the other three vehicles for his requirements.
In Honda Amaze, It has the Following Variants,
- 1.2 S MT Petrol
- 1.2 S CVT Petrol
- 1.2 VX MT Petrol
- 1.2 VX CVT Petrol
- 1.5 S MT Diesel
Now we have to suggest that which variant should better among these for him. Among these variants 1.2 VX CVT Petrol(10.82Lakhs) and 1.5 S MT Diesel(11.07Lakhs) are beyond the Price Range(8L to 10L). So we should negglect these two variants.
Pughazhyendhii is going to use his car to commute to office in Bangalore(Highly crowded city). It is more difficult to drive the Manual transmission vehicle on the traffic city when compare to the Automatic transmission vehicle. So that Instead of choosing the Manual Transmission variant, it is better to choose the Automatic Transmission Variant(CVT-Continuously Variable Transmission). So that, among these three variants(1.2 S MT Petrol, 1.2 S CVT Petrol, 1.2 VX MT Petrol), We can Finalize that "1.2 S CVT Petrol" Variant.
Finally, As per considering the Pughazhyendhii's Requirement "Honda Amaze-1.2 S CVT Petrol" Variant has Suggesting him to Buy.
