Benchmarking

benchmarking is a process by which a company differentiates its products/services from competitor's products/services for better output. studying other companies plays a vital role in achieving goals as it shows gaps that stop a company from becoming a major giant in the market.

there are mainly four types of benchmarking:-

  • performance benchmarking
  • strategic benchmarking
  • internal benchmarking
  • external benchmarking

1. Performance benchmarking:- performance benchmarking process involves collecting all the data from internal which depicts the performance of the firm and compare it with competitor's performance.

2.Strategic benchmarking:- the strategic benchmarking process compares top management level policies of various organizations to evaluate a firm's management situation.

3. Internal benchmarking:-This is a very basic level of benchmarking where a company compares a proposed product/service to its pre-existed products/services evaluates how a new product/service can be a superior success for the company.

4. External benchmarking:-This process of benchmarking compares a company's product and service to its competitor's products and services.
