Mahindra XUV300 sub-compact SUV is currently India’s safest car. It got a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test in India a year ago. Now, it has been crash tested in Africa and it has once again scored full 5 stars.

TATA ALTROZ

The Tata Altroz is manufactured by Tata motors. It is a 5 seater subcompact car and all set to be launched on 22nd January 2020 with a price range of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs.8.5 lakh. Tata Altroz with one Diesel and Petrol Engine comes with 1497cc of the engine displacement for the diesel engine and 1199 cc for the petrol engine. It comes with 4 cylinders in Diesel variant and with 3 cylinders in petrol variant. The length of Tata Altroz is 3,990 mm, width is 1,755 mm and wheelbase of 2,501 mm. It is a manual transmission car. It has a boot space of 345 litres and a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres. The Tata Altroz has a maximum power of 84.4bhp@6000rpm and maximum torque is 113Nm@3300rpm. It has a 1.2L BS-VI engine with three cylinders and for each cylinder 4 valve are present. The Altroz scored solid 5 stars with 16.13 points out of 17 in adult occupant protection while in child occupant protection it got three stars with 29 points out of 49.

TATA NEXON RHD

The Tata Nexon is a compact SUV from the Indian automaker. Launched, in 2017, it received a facelift in 2019 and is offered across eight trim levels with BS6 compliant powertrain and added equipment.

In terms of exterior design, you get headlamps with a sharp design combined with a much sleeker grille as compared to the pre-facelift model. Even the bumper design is revised which has now a larger intake and a contrasting skid plate. In profile and at the back, things remain more or less unchanged. Also part of the update is a new alloy wheel design.

On the inside, the Nexon continues to be spacious with its well laid out cabin. You’ve got a revised instrument cluster with an all-digital readout. The floating infotainment screen gets mobile connectivity features as well. Apart from the new upholstery, the Nexon’s updated cabin also packs in new equipment to get it up to the mark with the competition. This includes a sunroof, fast mobile charger, rain-sensing wipers and cruise control to name a few.

In terms of powertrain, the Tata Nexon facelift is powered by BS6 compliant versions of the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the 1.5-litre diesel engine. Transmission options include a six-speed manual gearbox and an automated manual transmission for both engines.

The Tata Nexon is a rival the other compact SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V and the Mahindra XUV300.
