AUTOMOTIVE BENCHMARKING
Benchmarking is the process of comparison of similar products on some dimensions of performance
Automotive Benchmarking is the process of analyzing the choices of similar products based on the selection factor and deducing it to final conclusion.
There are four main types of benchmarking: INTERNAL , EXTERNAL , PERFORMANCE AND PRACTICE.
According to the case factors that should be taken into consideration are:
- It is a 5 members family- The car should be spacious enough according to the height, legroom, safety and luggage space.
- He visits his native place per month which is 500km i.e. (1000km up and down) and also he will be using his car for daily office commute. This would give a 3800km/month and 35,000km/year. So, the car should have good mileage on highway and city drive.
- The budget is from 8-10 Lakhs and he is also fond of big cars
- Based on these underpinning factors the suggestion would be a choice of SUV Vehicle.
- Considering the long run of the vehicle the viable option would be Diesel variant which helps to save fuel costs and other upfront maintenance and also has better mileage.
- In a crowded city like Bengaluru Automatic Gear transmission would be best suited but due to budget constraints and fuel efficiency Manual Transmission is preferred

Pros & Cons
Nexon
Pros
1. its 1.5L turbo diesel engine produces 110PS of power at 4000rpm and 260Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 2750rpm.
2. The Nexon boasts big dimensions and an imposing presence on the road. It is one of the widest and tallest SUVs in the B2-segment and impresses with its butch styling. Additionally, the Nexon offers a class leading ground clearance of 209mm.
3. With the recent update, Tata offered multiple feel-good features in the Nexon. The Nexon offers features like automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, electric sunroof, front ventilated seats, air purifier, wireless charger, cruise control and auto-dimming IRVM. Additionally, the Nexon is also one of the most affordable cars in India to offer an electric sunroof.
Cons
1. Tata Nexon suffers from poor distribution of features in some of its variants, as the mid variants lack several must-have features. While the XM variant is overpriced for what it offers
2. lesser space for rear seats.
Punch
Pros
1. SUV Styling With Good Ground Clearance.
2. 5-Star Global NCAP Rating
3. 90-Degree Opening Doors For Easy Ingress/Egress
Cons
1. Acceptable But Not Stellar Ground Clearance
2. Missing Features
Ertiga
Pros
1. 180mm Ground Clearance
2. Reliability & Service Network
Cons
1. Poor body metal quality
2. less mileage
Kia sonet
Pros
1. The Kia Sonet is a good-looking SUV, and its aggressive design and styling are also one of the reasons why customers are opting for this subcompact SUV. In fact, in our opinion, the Sonet is the best-looking SUV in the sub-4-metre space.
2. The Sonet also comes with a great choice of engine options - a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor, a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel mill. Kia also offers 5 transmission choices with the Sonet - 5-speed MT, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed MT, 7-speed DCT and 6-speed AT.
3. Kia also offers the Sonet with its powerful 1.5-litre VGT diesel engine paired with a segment-first 6-speed automatic torque converter. It's one of the better drivetrain options to choose from while buying the Sonet.
4. The Kia Sonet offers a tonne of smart and premium features like LED headlamps, LED DRLs, sporty alloys, and LED taillamps. Inside it comes with 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated seats, air purifier with virus detection, wireless charger, Bose surround sound system, and more.
Cons
1. The cabin of the Kia Sonet is a bit cramped, especially at the rear. In fact, we would say it is a 4-seater SUV because three average-sized adults cannot really sit comfortably in the second row of Sonet.
2. The Sonet falls a bit short when it comes to handling, and on corners and turns, you will definitely feel a bit of body roll. The steering too can only be adjusted for height but not for reach.
Fronx
Pros
1.Rugged Looks With 190mm Ground Clearance
2. Good Set Of Standard Features
3. Only Car Under Rs. 10 Lakh With All-Adjustable Headrest And 3-Point Seatbelts
Cons
1. While the Fronx is a fairly-loaded crossover, you may miss features like rain-sensing wipers, tyre pressure monitoring system, an electric sunroof and rear seat armrest.
2. Quality of some plastic parts and fabric upholstery is mediocre
Conclusion
I would suggest Tata Nexon
As it is top selling car in india as well as it has good mileage for long drive, Good safety rating.
It also has decent ground clearance and boot capacity
Thanks & Regards
