Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design
AIM
To Create the Switch Bezel Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.
Class a surface

Tooling Axis
It is basiacally a axis created by a designer on the part surface to visulise the direction in which the mold core and cavity opens.

First Checking the connectivity of the surface, this can be done by creating boundaries or by simply using the join option such that any openings can be easily visualized.
Secondly have to check all direction of the X,Y,Z axis by creating a dummy axis point and line command. Checking Possibilities in all directions of the molding along the axis and find what are the problem creation parts of the component or model. The draft angle needed to be created by considering tooling axis.
Creating Tooling axis using Bisecting method. Intersect the surface along the X axis creating two lines parallell to dummy axis and bisecting the creating line between X axis. same along the Y axis.
Bisecting the tooling axis lines along the X and Y axis creating final bisecting line.
Class A surface Draft analysis

Draft analysis is done after determining the tooling axis, draft analysis is used to check whether the minimum draft (3 degrees) is maintained or not. Compass is used to check the draft angle along the surfaces. If the draft meets the requierments which is min 3 degrees the it shown in green color. if its is in negetive will show in blue color these are the results of the draft analysis which are very crucial for determining the feasibility of the product.. then have to correct check for values of the angles or boundries.
Creation of Class B surface

Class B surface is basically a thickness of product. It is created by Offsetting the surfaces from Class A surface to the requiered thickness and joining them together.
Class C surface

The surface created using the sweep option by sweeping the boundaries of A-surface along the tooling axis to connect from A to B-surface is called C-Surface.
