A.I.M : Benchmark with presently available cars in the market for a client with certain requirements , Compare at least 4 vehicles , Provide a proper conclusion for the report, suggesting a single suitable vehicle among the comparison made with images.
REPORT :
WHAT IS BENCHMARKING ?
Benchmarking involves a structured comparison between similar products,services or processes on some dimensions of performance. For example it can be used to compare the availability and delivery of features in a product and in this form often provides the basis of consumer tests and reviews. These look at products and services and provide recommendations based on which is best or some form of ranking amongst competitors. It is particularly useful when comparing not only performance but also practice in other words what do the different organizations do to enable that performance to be delivered? And applied in this way it is a powerful tool in process innovation sin e studying how the ‘best’ achieve their performance can provide powerful clues for changing the way processes operate.
Benchmarking Processes :
Planning : Identify the product and services or process to be benchmarked.Determine data collection method and collect data.
Analysis : Determine the gap between the company’s current performance and that of the competitors and identify the cause of significant gaps.
Integration : Establish functional goals
Action : Develop action plans, and team assignments, implement the plans, and monitor the process and recalibrate benchmark as improvements are made.
Maturity : Attain leadership position, fully integrate practices into processes.
REQUIREMENTS of client :
- Five member Family including his wife, a five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother , should be a comfortable big and safe vehicle.
- He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once a month , again vehicle should be comfortable for long road trips.
- He will be using his car to commute to his office , vehicle should have good fuel efficiency.
- Budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs.
- Fond of big cars.
Considering the requirements of the client , i have short listed 4 suvs :

This vehicle is providing everything to the client requirement , has good safety features , comfortable for 3 individuals in the back seat , boot space is ample , has a good dashboard , excellent infotainment system
cons :
volume output from speakers are not great , cabin noice insulation could have been better , engine is not that refined
2) Hyundai Venue

absolute premium looking interior , excellent seat comfort as it has recline seat for back row , good charging port selection as it has 15x wireless charging , responsiveness of touch screen is amazing , music output is good , one of the best cabin insulation on its class .
cons :
no officially global ncap certified , engine refinement could have been better
3) Tata Nexon

excellent seat comfort as it has ventilated seat option , ample amount of boot space , music output is absolutely amazing , comes with frame less wipers , good set of charging port selection with wireless charging ,
cons :
a pillar size is big hence sometimes visibility issue can occur, manual seat adjustment , dashboard could have been better
4) Mahindra XUV300

Excellent engine performance , out of all this vehicle have the best engine refinement , seat comfort is also excellent for log trips , vehicle interior is very specious , a fun to drive car
cons :
outdated dashboard design (it is subjective) , music output from the speakers are averege , boot space is not ample,manual seat adjuctment.
conclusion :
My verdict after considering all the vehicles and the requirement of the client would be the Mahindra XUV300
reason being :
- As the family is consist of a todler and a senior citizen couple , safety is the atmost priority , and when it comes to safety the xuv 300 shines with its 5 star global ncap rating , 4 disc brakes and air bags .
- similarly for long road trip with family , the comfort is also really important , and xuv 300 is very specious and has the best suspension system in its class .
- As the client is goint to use his vehicle for daily commute to his office , the driving experience is also very crutial , and xuv 300 has the refined engine , it is fun to drive and with the torque it provides , the client can breeze through the traffic .
