Answers: REPORT ON THE BENCHMARKING FOR THE GIVEN CASE:

AIM : first we will see what is benchmarking then compare 4 vehicle acc. to given case and select one  of them which is most suitable for the person.

BENCHMARKING: It refers to comparision between the similar products ,services or process so that we could make final conclusion about them and make appropirate changes in our decision. Here, in the given case we will use automotive benchmarking which is nothing but comparison between similar products by analyzing them and deducing it to final conclusion.

CASE: M.R. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is highly crowded city. His Family comprises Five members including his wife, five- year- old boy, his father and his mother. He visites his native place Madurai which is 500 kms away from the Bangalore once in a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on roads. Please suggest to him with options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

Note: Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars.

Report: From the above case of Mr. Pughazhyendhii we can say it applies the following sort/filters:

  • He requires a spacious car so that all of his family members can sit together and still some space remain to avoid suffocation.
  • The budget of the car is b/w 8 to 10 Lakhs also he has the fond of big cars.
  • He uses his car for Daily office commute and monthly trip to his native place. Suppose his office is at 10 km from his home this would give that he drives more than 2000 km/month and more than 25000 km/year
  •  Based on these factors we could suggest him the SUV vehicle and
  • Considering the fuel efficiency in the mind we could suggest him the diesel variant of the vehicle which would save his fuel cost and give him better mileage and it could be easily maintained but due to budget contraints he should go for petrol variant.
  • Also keeping budget in the mind he should opt for manual gear transmission which is slightly cheaper than automatic gear transmission.

Based on these reqiurements a detailed benchmarking is done to compare the specifications, advantages and other considerable parameters as shown:

Performance:

  • Tata punch and Renault kiger offers best mileage (ARAI) out of all four vehicle .
  • Hyundai Venue and Tata Punch has better torque and maximum power.
  • Tata Punch has AMT-5 gears which gives advantage to the person in the crowded city but Renault kiger has manual transmission.

SAFETY AND COMFORT

  • Out of four vehicle Tata Punch has highest 5 NACP rating which is globally accepted for its safety and crash test but renault rigger also has 4 NACP global rating.
  • Each vehicle has Airbags, overspeed warnings and seatbelt warning features but Tata punch provide emergency  brake light flashing which gives extra safety.
  • But tyre pressure monitoring system is only avilable in NISSAN Magnite out of all four vehicle.

Exterior:

  • Tata Punch fall behind Renault kiger in the bootspace capacity of 405 liters  and also ground clearance of Renault kiger is better than Tata punch which is suitable for Indian roads which gives advantage to person like Mr. Pughazhyendhii who visits his native city once a month.

Verdict:

So although Tata punch is stand out vehicle but due to its lesser ground clearance than Renault kiger, Renault Kiger is most suitable model suited for Mr. Pughazhyendhii based on the benchmarking result from above. 4 NACP rating is also good in case of Renault kiger and it falls in the budget of under 10 lakhs. Although Tata Punch specs are comparable but Renault kiger is provide spacious and comfort options.
