REPORT

• OBJECTIVE

               The Objective of this report is to provide a personal suggest to "Mr.D.S.Pughazhyendhii" of a car in the current market as of "Dec 2022" considering his needs.

TASK

               Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, a five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him options so that he will buy a good car for his family.He is also fond of "big cars".

• BENCH-MARKING

               Benchmarking is a process of measuring the performance of a company’s products, services, or processes against those of another business considered to be the best in the industry, aka “best in class.” The point of benchmarking is to identify internal opportunities for improvement. By studying companies with superior performance, breaking down what makes such superior performance possible, and then comparing those processes to how your business operates, you can implement changes that will yield significant improvements.

                In this case,we are bench-marking from 4 different cars from 4 different makers with their strenghts an weaknesses and compare them and select the most possible car to Mr.D.S.Pughazhyendhii to buy.

• COMPARISON

               The current comparision is done based on some parameters which are required for Mr.D.S.Pughazhyendhii and his family.They are

1. Total number of people in the family;where in Mr.D.S.Pughazhyendhii's family consists of 5 people which are 4 adults and 1 5yr kid.So the 1st priority is that the car should be 5 seater or above.
2. Cars should be able to carry their lauggage,that is the cars should be having a boot space.
3. Since it is 21st Century,the cars should have modern features and interiors.Since he lives mainly in the city we have choosen CVT and AMT car variants where in Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is an Automatic Transmission that can change seamlessly through a continuous range of gear ratios,AMT or Automated Manual Transmission is mechanically similar to a manual transmission, except that the sensors and actuators perform the clutch work and shift gears,these will help reduce stress on him greatly.
4. Unfortunately "Bolero Neo" is only big size modern car here under his budget,the rest comes under compact SUV segment but they offer great comfort and decent space between them when seated.

          Based on these requirements a detailed benchmarking is done to compare the specifications, advantages and other considerable parameters in the following chart

                    

• CONCLUSION

         From the bench marking the best option to Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is TATA PUNCH.This comes in a good offering of all the required parameters which is a perfect fit for him and his family.This car comes as an well rounded package and value for money proposition compared to the other options which are lacking in the current price point but are available in their respective top-end variants.

                  

• INTERIOR & FEATURES

        I have included some pictures from the official website of Tata and from the internet regarding this model.Let's see what we get from them.

• From this picture we can get a basic overview of what is on offer.The sunroof,360 degree parking camera,adjustable head rest in the rear,arm rest in the rear and alloy wheels is present in the top end variant.But reverse parking camera can be added as an add-on feature.

• Keyless entry with lock/unlock at the top and bottom,headlight on/off on the left and boot door open on the right.

• This is where Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii most of his time in the car and by this picture we see losts of features,buttons etc for the 2022-2023 cars.The glove box on the left seat offers a large space with lamp and with basic MID semi-digital instrument cluster in the right.
• The list of features presented in this picture are

1. Tweeters on the left and right A-Pillars

2. Front AC vents provided are 6 despite having no rear AC vents these front AC vents cools the ambience temperature in the car decently.

3. Steering mounted controls has media controls,call pick-up/cut on the left and cruise control on/off on the right.

4. Driver side dash board has a small storage pocket with decent pocket size with eco driving mode,engine start/stop and auto start/stop engine button during traffic signal button.

 

• This is an image from the driver side door.It consists controls of 

         1. right-side mirror power contoller with a dial

         2. driver side auto up/down window

         3. rest power window

         4. central lock/unlock and a small pocket for storage.

• The driver side door has an umbrella holder of small size/single person size.
• All doors has a chrome door open lever for the people to exit the car by opening the doors,1 litre bottle holders,1 speaker and power window up/down buttons respectively.

• In the current Accomplished variant there is no rear seat adjustable head rests,front seat pockets and centre arm rest but the space is same.It has the space which is comfortable to 2 adults and 1 child but for 3 adults,they have to do a little adjustment to fit in.
• The current picture shows the after market seat covers which has the front seat pockets.

 

•  No rear AC vents or charging ports,just a little storage space for rear passengers is available but the foot comfort is increased for the rear centre passenger with just a little bump for his foot which is almost flat.
• The central console has a 12V charger cut-out,handbrake and two slim drink can holders of space.

 

• This is an aftermarket inclusion of an arm rest with a bit of storage for the central console for incresed comfort for the driver.

•  The boot space for the car is 366 litre officially,but it actually has 319 litres of available space.

 

•  The picture shows how the boot space is available by placing largest trolly bag(pink) at the bottom,medium trolly bag(silver) on top of large bag and small trolly bag(black) on the side.

 

• The wheels you get in the current variant "accomplished amt" are 16-inch BLACK STEEL wheels with 1 15-inch spare tire in the boot under plate area.The following picture is the real life picture.

 

• The spare wheel is 15-inch in size with the tools provided by Tata under the boot space.

 

• SAFETY 

         Regarding Saftey of this car,global NCAP score of 5 star for adult and 4 star for child is provided below which makes this the safest car from the current comparison,provided the airbags are for driver and front passenger.

               In my opinion,TATA PUNCH is a perfect option for his needs and useablity.The only other option other than this car is NISSAN MAGNITE with other add-ons to match the current offering,making it close to or over 10 lakh price point.
