Benchmarking

AIM:

To prepare a report on Benchmarking, its purposes & compare atleast 4 vehicles with each other to provide a suitable conclusion for the report, suggesting a single suitable vehicle among the comparison made.

BENCHMARKING?

Benchmarking, is the practice of comparing buisness processes and performance metrics to industry best and best practices from other companies. dimension typically measured as cost, quantity and cost.

Classification of benchmarking:

  1. INTERNAL BENCHMARKING: It is used when the company already established and proved the best practices and they simply need to share them. Internal benchmarking is also necessary when comparable industries are not readily available.
  2. COMPETITIVE BENCHMARKING: It is used when the company wants to evaluate the position within its industry. and also used when the company needs to identify the industry leadership performance targets.
  3. STRATEGIC BENCHMARKING: It is used in identifying and analaysing the world class performance. this fom of benchmarking used when company needs to go outside of this industry.

BENEFITS:

It helps in identifying the areas that we wish to be improved on in your buisness and benchmarking your existing performance against competitors, and to gain the strategic improvement over other industries/competitors.

  • Monitor performance
  • Continuous improvement
  • Planning and goal setting
  • Encourage ownership

REQUIREMENTS:

Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, a five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

Note: Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars

In my opinion,

Mr. Pughazhyendhii and his family needs a car for regular use and go to native once in the month, then the car specifications must have a Balance in Mileage, Maintenance, Good Space, Features, and a Social Status of Not Owning an Entry-Level Car but One That Offers Value With the shift in thinking, elements like safety and nice interiors are becoming crucial deciding factors.

His major requirements are,

  1. 5-7 Seating capacity
  2. Budget: 8-10 lakhs
  3. Better mileage
  4. Also, a good one for the city drive.
  5. Good space between the seats.

I would suggest Petrol/Diesel driven Sport utlity vehicles to him
