Benchmarking

1,

Buying a car is an essential factor in our life .there are different models available in the market from manufacturers like Maruti, Hyundai, Honda etc. In the Indian market, we are mostly looking for good mileage. nowadays we are more concerned about the model look and the efficiency rather than the manufacture.

also, there are some essential factors like maintenance, resale value etc that are important in choosing a new car. Benchmarking is a process of measuring the performance of a company’s products, and services. by doing this benchmarking we can easily choose the suitable vehicle for our purpose.

REPORT

Benchmarking is the process of comparing the qualities, services, and efficiency of the same segment of products from different companies. In our situation, it is a car and we already have some filters for choosing our car from the bucket .like,

  1. The number of commuters is five including a child and hence the vehicle should be spacious with enough legroom
  2. He uses his car for his Daily office commute and a monthly trip to his native. This would give a total estimate of more than 2500km/month and 20000km/year.
  3. The budget is from 8-10 Lakhs and he is also fond of big cars
  4. Based on these factors the suggestion would be a choice of SUV Vehicle

Based on these requirements a detailed benchmarking is done to compare the specifications, advantages and other considerable parameters

here I took 2 hatchbacks and 2 SUV types of vehicles from M&M, FORD, HONDA AND HYUNDAI

OUR PRIMARY CONCERN

PERFORMANCE

SUV 300 and HYUNDAI I20 got the same capacity 1197, but SUV 300 is turbocharged and others do not have a turbo .this would be a plus for SUV 300

mileage shows a good difference in both vehicles almost 3.3 km. I 20 have good mileage(20.3 km) compared to the other 3 cars

eco spot got a big engine in the house 1.5 ltr. but jazz has the same engine as SUV and I-20.

SUV 300 produces a decent torque of almost 200nm@2000 rpm. the remaining cars only produce less than 150nm

INTERIOR

all cars have 5 seat capacity

SUV 300 have the smallest boot capacity 257. although eco spot and jazz hold 350+ boot space. and I 20 have a decent boot space of 300+. This shows a big difference in the boot space between these cars

EXTERIOR

ground clearance of the eco spot is higher than the remaining cars(200mm from the ground)

the SUV 300 has good ground clearance, almost 180mm from ground

i20 has a 170 mm height not a big difference compared to the suv300

the sad part of all these cars except the honda jazz is their wheels. only in this segment jazz provides alloy wheels .while all the others have just steel wheels. that is a big disappointment.

SAFETY PART

the SUV 300 has 5 stars in NCAP.

jazz has 4, and i20 got only 2

so without any comparison, i can go with the SUV 300

conclusion

comparing all these 4 cars. I would select the SUV 300 .it has good safety, good mileage, good space and a good look compared to the other 4. almost all the sorting parameters go with this car and this is Indian-made. although the maintenance for the SUV 300 may be less than the remaining
