Benchmarking

Aim :

Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, a five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

Benchmarking :

Benchmarking involves a structured comparison between similar products, services or processes on some dimensions of performance.

Automotive Benchmarking is the process of analyzing the choices of similar products based on the selection factor and deducing it to final conclusion.

when it's comes to the vehicle development process benchmarking is the formost important to do a pre design development.

There are four type of benchmarking, they are Internal, External, Performance & practice.

Benchmarking is a key to improvement.

Major Requirements:

As per Pughazhyendhii requirement, he usually travel from Bangalore to Madurai ( 5 family member ) which is 500 Km.

And he usually going to office with car. ( Approx 6 to 15 Km )

And his budget is 8 to 10 Lakhs.

List of cars & Engine option :

First we need to fix the Engine option. Nowdays, 5 major Engine options are there. They are Petrol, Diesel, LPG, CNG, EV ( Within 8 to 10 lakhs engine option).

From my point of view, Electric vechicle is not suitable for him. Anyway TATA Tiago EV & CNG is comes within his budget. But problems is still now maximum 350 Km we can travel in EV.

And one more problem is charging station for EV & CNG gas filling station is very less in Madurai. So i never suggest EV & CNG engine option.

So I will suggests for Pughazhyendhii should go for Petrol & Deisel Engine.

Here I am going to compare four car with his budgets, The cars are Tata Nexon, Tata Tiago, Hyundai venue, Maruthi Suzuki Baleno.

So I am suggesting Tata Nexon is the best choice for Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii & Family.
