Answer:-
AUTOMOTIVE BENCHMARKING:
Benchmarking is one of the processes that can be utilized by automobile industries these days, essentially benchmarking is comparing the product that we're going to produce with the other products that are already existing in the present market by doing these Comparisons we can get the picture of what are the pros and cons of our competitor's products and how to we eliminate the defects we already noticed on competitor’s product then what are the features that we are going to add on our product and what our product will be in the market and then there are a couple of types are there in benchmarking let’s have a look at both of benchmarking methods.
- Benchmarking involves a structured comparison between similar products on some dimensions of performance and features. It can be used between different competing organizations or sectors.
- By this, we can analyze deeply and It helps to discover new concepts or changes.
- It helps to understand and improve the potential of the vehicle which is going to be made.
- It helps to grab opportunities in the market, reduce cost and increase profit and provide customer satisfaction
- Things that are very important in benchmarking are time, quality, and price.
Before performing benchmarking we need to decide what we are going to the benchmark then we have to examine our own process of benchmarking, it helps us to create a new idea and guides us on how to use this in the process of benchmarking. After this, we need to collect and analyze the data of the market or sector from different sources.
Types of Benchmarking:-
There are 2 types of benchmarking-
- Benchmarking-1
- Benchmarking-2
Benchmarking-1
It’s also known as product level benchmarking which means as we have seen before in this case, we are going to compare our product with our competitor's products, so it does give us the account of which is the remarkable product of our competitor’s, and we can get an idea how our product will be in the present market then we know we are competing head-to-head with who as well.
In this, we do an external comparison like defining competitors and comparing prices, features, and quality

Benchmarking-2
it’s been known as part level benchmarking (or) component level benchmarking in this process we do a complete study of the material used by the competitors on their own products, and we will take something into our consideration in this process that none other than Marley,
- What material we used
- Weight of material
- Number of parts
- Thickness of material
In this, we do an internal comparison like analyzing deeply component-wise with competitors.
So, these are the few steps in manufacturing that following by each of the manufacturers around the world before beginning production, and it’s been a way to bring their product to reality.
